Description

Up for grabs is my 1975 Honda CB750K5 750 Four Unlike most people. I'm not going to simply copy/paste some manufacturer’s generic description from back in the day. Instead I thought we should talk about THIS BIKE on a personal level. Now work with me here. There's a lot of material to cover and you need to know this stuff so you can make an informed decision. Hey! You there in the back! Pay attention! You think you’re here to take a nap? Now I want you to be in tip top mental form as you read along. so maybe you should go take a bathroom break now. While you’re at it. perhaps mix yourself a Jack and Coke or grab a cold one from the fridge on the way back. Or just brew up a fresh coffee – it’s up to you. It’s important that we all get comfortable before we settle in. Go ahead. take your time. I’ll wait… Ah…where do I begin? Back in the early seventies I was (perhaps much like you) just a kid getting out of high school. And I had a 1970 Honda CB750. Man I was KING of bike night in those days. Well that bike was sold. marriage came along. then kids and work and a mortgage. But thoughts of that CB750 were always with me. Eventually I began to hunt for an old CB750. One thing led to another and before long I had collected one of each year from 1969 to 1978. But recently I have been forced to start selling off my Honda CB750 collection. You will find out why as you read along. I have sold most all of my collection. except for two. The K5 is now the one on the auction block. Once it goes I’ll only have one left. which is my K0. I’ll let the pictures tell most of the story about this bike. You don’t see bikes in this condition all that often. This bike is pretty close to showroom condition – as showroom as you’ll find for a bike that is now 40 years old. This machine has been stored INDOORS in AIR CONDITIONING in my living room for the past decade or more. I have owned this bike since 2000. I’d like to point out that back in 2002 when I was showing bikes all the time – this bike won at the NATIONAL Level in the VJMC show. Not only Best of Show but also People’s choice. This is a bike that TURNS HEADS. There is just something really special about this particular bike. At bike night this machine ALWAYS draws the crowd. It’s like going to a high school dance with the prom queen on your arm. Everyone looks on with envy. Frame: CB750-2535614 Engine: CB750E-2417982 Paint Color: Planet Blue Metallic Mileage: 11. 89 Original Miles Let’s talk a bit about new parts. The bike has a brand new battery. And not some Wal-Mart special. It’s a brand new sealed battery from Scorpion. The oil and filter have less than 100 miles on them. The bike runs just fine. In fact – it runs just like it did in 1975. This is definitely not a bike offered for sale with the promise that it “ran when I stored it 12 years ago!” This bike runs perfectly right now. Brakes. lights. shifting. the works. It’s all good. REALLY GOOD. The tires are certainly roadworthy. The front brake caliper was just rebuilt. The front fork seals were just done. Additionally – the bike has a FULL SET OF NEW PIPES! Yes proper Honda Factory parts – HM341’s. ALSO – This bike has a NEW SEAT! Again – proper factory seat from Honda. New fenders – turn signals – fork ears - the list goes on and on. Like I said. you check out the pictures closely to see the condition. There is even some of that orange paint here and there where bolts have never even been touched. This is truly a rare LOW MILEAGE bike with just 11. 89 original miles. The motor has never been out of the frame. When I bought the bike it was orange. The previous owner decided he wanted an orange bike and got a deal on orange plastic. So he put all new orange stuff on this bike. Orange is NOT a proper color for the K5. Planet Blue Metallic is. And what a FINE color it is. So I went looking for the proper color plastic for this bike. I did find the side covers and bought them new. But try as I could – I could NOT find a new Planet Blue Metallic tank. So I hunted around for a painter who could perform miracles. And he did. I paid $850 (a deal by today’s prices) and he did the tank over in Planet Blue. Matched the side covers perfectly. You really DO have to see this bike in person to appreciate it. “So if the bike is so great – and you love CB750’s – then why are you selling it?” Perhaps that is the question on the tip of your tongue? The answer is a sad one. to be sure. In some motorcycle circles I am well known and this bike is a known item as well. To make a long story short. I am selling my bike collection because I was recently in a horrific motorcycle accident and lost my leg. Along with this new one legged life has come some serious financial struggles – so the 750’s are on the auction block. Like I said above. I have sold all but two now. Likely to follow will be my K0. Sadly. I must be realistic and see my future for what it now really is. Anyhow – back to the bike. I have the title in hand ready to go. It is a Florida Title in my name. I bought this bike from the previous owner who lives in Wisconsin. Back in those days some states (Wisconsin being one of them) titled the bikes when bought new from the dealer by the motor number as opposed to the frame number. So this bike shows the motor number on the title. I have a copy of the previous Wisconsin title as well as the current title in my name as mentioned. No liens or any of that nonsense to deal with. I will include a Honda 1975 owner’s manual. I will also include a SHOP MANUAL. I will also include a PARTS CATALOGUE specific to the K5. If you have a question or two - just send me an e-mail. I'll fire a reply back to you right away. I have been on Ebay for a long time. My E Bay positive feedback is 100%. You will also see where I have positive feedback from the sale of my Sandcast 750 as well as my K6. Please KNOW that you are dealing with an honest and decent person. Now. after you win the auction you will have to pay for the bike. I want $1. 00 deposit within 48 hours of the ending of the auction. This can be via PayPal. The rest of the money BEFORE the bike leaves my driveway. Pay the balance with certified bank draft only or cash if local. That draft will CLEAR my bank BEFORE the bike is turned over to you. I'm a nice guy and all - and I'm sure you are too - but don't even bother bidding or sending me e-mails if you don't have the cash. This should go without saying - but here it is anyways - the bike is sold as is. where is. and there is no warranty. You are welcome to pick up the bike locally or have it shipped at your expense. I will help at this end as I can – but arranging the shipping and the cost is the buyer’s responsibility. Now about the price… I have listed the bike with an opening bid of $99. 00. Needless to say there is a reserve. It is a serious. yet realistic reserve. I won’t divulge the reserve amount during the auction. But I will give you some good clues. I sold my CB750 K4 for $7. 00. I sold my CB750 K6 for $7. 00. They were BOTH great bikes – but neither was as nice as this one. And here is a little inside clue for you. I personally have $8. 00 invested in this bike to date. So that should give you some idea as to where I hope to see this bike sell. Finding comparable bikes is hard as there are so few around in this condition. There are links to a few comparable bikes below for your review. One of the FINEST K4’s I have ever seen – Just sold last week for $11. 00 http://www. ebay. com/itm/171721394844?_trksid=p2060353. m1438. l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT K6 for $8. 00 http://www. ebay. com/itm/Honda-CB-1976-honda-cb-750-k-6-all-original-except-exhaust-very-low-miles-beautiful-/251560547029?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3a922d52d5&item=251560547029&pt=US_motorcycles K3 for $8. 00 http://www. ebay. com/itm/Honda-CB-1973-vintage-honda-cb-750-motorcycle-orig-lo-miles-near-perfect-just-restored-/291387558589?forcerrptr=true&hash=item43d80d4abd&item=291387558589&pt=US_motorcycles K3 for $8. 50 http://www. ebay. com/itm/Honda-CB-1973-honda-cb-750-k-3-cb-750-original-survivor-/141579294126?forcerrptr=true&hash=item20f6c895ae&item=141579294126&pt=US_motorcycles The reserve is based on the above prices BUT is considerably LOWER than the average of these four examples. I feel that I am being extremely fair as far as the reserve goes for a bike in this condition. If you know the shape most 750’s are sold in – you’ll know the condition of this K5 is exceptional to say the least. So…. fellow Honda Fans - Let the bidding begin! Bid. buy. win…. collect it or ride it…up to you. But EVERYWHERE you go on this bike…. you will be turning heads at EVERY corner. Good luck with your bids…. ride safe and ride often! Wizard.
