Description

Up for auction is a red 1975 Honda CB400F. I have owned this motorcycle since 2000. and used to ride it almost every day to work as well as countless errands. Considering it's age. it's still in pretty good shape. particularly the amazingly designed exhaust pipes. I am selling it with many extra parts that were included in the sale to me from the last owner. Among other things. there is another frame (!). one of the original blue gas tanks. a wheel. and 2 full plastic bins of various parts. I will also include the Kryptonite lock I used with it. and a Clymer manual for the bike. I am moving out of the area and have a different motorcycle that I ride now so it's time to sell this one. When I first bought the bike. I took it to Charlies Place (he has now relocated to Los Angeles) and he took the best of all the parts and pieces in the original sale and put together this bike at no small cost. He did the vast majority of the regular servicing over the years. and I have most of the records still which you are welcome to review. Therefore. much of it is still original. albeit not from the same bike. I just took it to Ohanlon motorcycles for a per purchase inspection which you can review. Overall a good report. but a couple hundred dollars worth or repairs they recommend and you will see in the paperwork. Here are my overall notes:The Good:-Cosmetically in very good shape. -Generally very reliable-Easy to ride-Great for the city-Head turner of a bike!!!-Compression test on all 4 cylinders; 165. 165. 160. 165-Primarily garage keptThe General:-These bikes have a tendency to leak oil and this one is no exception. -The electrical on these old bikes can be touch and go. and again. this one is temperamental. - It has an after market horn that is VERY loudThe Bad:- I was hit sideways in an intersection. which knocked the bike on it's side. Charlie looked over the frame and it seemed to be fine. but we think the back wheel got bent. He replaced the back wheel and both tires. but it still seems to be a little off kilter visually. I have driven plenty on it since without noticing any issues - although not on a freeway. One of the original red side panels cracked and split on impact. - the back seat material has split-the swing arm is a little bent and scratching the exhaust pipe- I haven't ridden it in the last 3 years until I started it up last week for sale. New battery was put in a month ago. and it started up just fine. - original mileage is unknown- The last service the bike had was in 2012 (oil change. electrical checked. plugs changed. etc. ) - it's missing the original chrome chain guard. I am happy to answer questions about it. My husband will be the one showing it since I have to head out of town before him. This old machine deserves a great new chapter. Title in hand.
