Starting with the motor. 155 lbs of compression(160 top of spec) in 3 jabs at the kicker stone cold (kicker as tight and smooth as the day it was made !) . Crank seals have been done once. Irregardless of every Tom. ick and Harry claiming their 86 or 87 is the strongest yr CR500R. they're mistaken as the first water cooled year (1985) has the most compression of any ever produced and is the strongest. I have a model from each variation produced and have ridden them for over 25 years. Doubt my claim ? check your original OEM Service manual to verify. Even the mighty 86 had almost a half a point less wind than the 85'. They dropped a hair more compression yet over the next yr or two until they had 6 tenths less than the original until the 01's final production. 85 and 86 versions had short connecting rod and smaller. lighter rotors on ignition which caused . hard hitting power bands which would be smoothed and calmed starting in 87' with long rod crank and heavier rotor/flywheel. Water pump housing /clutch cover in excellent condition on this old girl as she had distilled water in her most of her life instead of antifreeze to destroy the magnesium. Every bearing in the chassis. inkage and wheels is original and as tight as the day the bike was produced as this one has minimal actual time on it and has been loved and religiously maintained and cared for with regular tear-downs to grease it. (neck bearings are easily greased due to zirk fitting installed in steering neck tube). Forks have DC plastics "Works Replica" covers and are in beautiful condition with no leaks. Rear shock is fresh with no rides on complete rebuild(has spring for 190lb rider currently installed). All original plastics with no cracks or breaks and partial warning stickers still on rear fender. Seat in excellent condition but cover has been replaced with 86' model year version. Exhaust is all original with a few very tiny dings where bike has fallen on rt side and a hint of rash on oem silencer. All springs. and seals still original on mid-pipe and silencer junctions with no messy leaks. Handlebars and front master cylinder have been replaced with newer versions(front master. ine and caliper are from an 01 cr250 but original master. ine and caliper come with bike). D. I. D. Chain and sprockets are original i believe(not positive but think they are original and are in great condition) . Bike has obviously been ridden and enjoyed over the years for at least short periods of time so. it has paint chips and worn spots. inor scratches here and there from use. but is in beautiful condition otherwise. (Take a look at pics of inside of rear brake drum and shoes/backing plate to get an idea how nice this bike really is ! It absolutely rips. trans nice and smooth and motor is quiet.
