Description

Expert restoration by former Indian racer and Indian historian and publisher Butch Baer. owner of A Century of Motorcycling publishing and son of Motorcycle Hall of Famer Fritzie Baer. Maintained by Indian aficionados Michael Baer and Duffy Batchelder and used for daily summer and fall rides throughout NH country side. It has never been ridden in inclement weather. Starts easy on the first kick after two priming kicks. runs and handles great. I leave my Harley buddies in the dust in tight corners. Small paint chip on back of front fender but nothing major at all. I added an electronic ignition but have the original parts to convert back to points. Engine is super strong 45 cubic inch with Bonneville heads and race cams. It is not a typical Scout motor as it is much more powerful. As Duffy says. "That's a real snotty engine. " It does not have matching frame and engine numbers. Frame is #642366 and engine is just stamped 'Baer'. Butch Baer told me that he 'built the engine from parts of that era'. Outside of new copper head gaskets in 2010. engine has not been apart since 1995. I have no idea which parts are original or replacements but do know that the bike was complete taken apart and rebuilt/restored by Butch. This is one reason why I feel very comfortable riding at highway speeds with my buddies for short trips here in NH. I know the heads are Bonneville from when I replaced the head gaskets. I had a custom tandem seat made from a same period BMW motorcycle passenger seat with custom leather saddle and stamped Indian logo. This mounts to the luggage rack with 4 bolts but I have not built foot pegs for passenger. The 6 volt generator was rebuilt in 2015. A new ignition was purchased that same year. New tires. front wheel bearings and chain in 2014. I have customer mounting plates for kidney style saddlebags but no saddlebags. When I first bought the Indian. the speedometer worked intermittently so the connection is there. I was told that it is a small gear in the rear hub but it really wasn't important to me to spend the time or money to fix it. When speedometer cable is spun by hand. nbsp;speedometer seems to work but gear is not connected in rear wheel hub so speedometer doesn't work presently. I have no idea of the actual mileage. Awarded 'Best Scout' at the 4th annual Indian Day at Springfield MA in 2013 and was featured on Paul Mennett's TV show Crusin' New England. Any spots that you see under the bike are not oil but from water as I had washed the bike prior to taking those pictures. Buyer responsible for pick up or shipping arrangements. I have NH registration in hand and NH title. Motorcycle sold As-Is. no returns. $500 deposit immediately after auction ends. balance due 7 days after auction ends. Will accept Certified check or Bank Wire. Bike doesn't leave driveway until funds clear. period. Please message with questions. Thanks!
