Description

1986 KAWASAKI NINJA 1000R w/ only 5918 miles by original owner. Never ever down! Never. This was my 30th birthday present almost 30 years ago and although it was a "had to have it" bike for me back then. that was 30 years ago when it was the fastest production motorcycle in the world. turning a real 160 mph. I swore I would never sell it but the reality is that I have only ridden it an average of 200 miles a year and that is a shame. It was built to be ridden or at least be in a collection as an amazing survivor. The Corbin seat. Yoshimura exhaust. tinted windscreen. braided steel front brake line were all done the first week I owned it. The reflectors on the fairing and the bulky rear fender tip were also removed during the personalization process. Over the years I have had the carbs off to clean them regularly (richened up the pilot circuits to improve starting and eliminate back firing). Check the valve clearance and adjusted as needed. Replace rocker/valve cover. Replaced fork seals and fluid and have replaced the tires three or four times not from wear but from checking from age. I do not like to ride on old tires. It currently rolls on a newish set of sticky Michelins. Of course it almost goes without saying that the oil was changed on average of every 500 miles. Everything else is bone stock and functions as designed. It has always lived in doors under the original Ninja bike cover (included with this sale) so there is none of the typical sun fading that you would find to the black controls or the paint. There is a very small blem in the plastic frame cover on the left side that does not show up every time I try to photograph it. Not on the fairing or painted surface. I noticed that two of the belly pan screws have taken their leave so they will have to be replace. Probably a couple of bucks each from Kawasaki. I will should have them by the time the auction is over. If you think this bike is clean and in amazing shape you are almost right. These pics were taken after a recent ride and before it was washed and put away. No make up (like Amorall or wax or anything to shine/clean it up) This is how she looks at her worst! It didn't make it almost 30 years and less than 6K miles in this condition without some real TLC on a regular basis. Let me know if you have any questions. 714. 588-7608/RickThe reserve (which I will not divulge) is reasonable for the age. condition and miles. This is not a Fire Sale nor an attempt to get rid of a near 30 year old motorcycle. It is the equivalent of a guy selling his prized. pristine '66 Bonneville with less than 6k miles in 1996. It doesn't happen everyday.
