1981 Maico 490 I am very proud to offer up for auction my post vintage racer I will not bore you by telling you how many races this bike has won for me. I also will not brag about it's ability to holeshot nearly every gate that drops in front of it. I will tell you it's won an Ahrma & AMA post vintage championship for me and has never let me down. Over the years I have raced it I have tried a lot of different engine & suspension combinations. The way it sits now is the best combination yet. You will get a good understanding of all the components on this bike by studying the photos. The main component is an Eric Cook rebuilt 490 motor that has just 2 races on it. This is a stock 490 put together right. It is all the motor you will ever need. Bing carb & Motoplat ignition. starts good and pulls clean down low. Clutch pulls easy with 2 fingers thanks to the Easy Clutch & Venhill cable. The pipe is a Dutch Power and in very good shape. Up front is a set of 44mm Fox Factory forks that are in excellent condition. Billet front brake backing plate machined to fit forks. wheel is centered perfectly. Fork action is very plush & can be tuned with air pressure. ( I start @ 5 psi & adjust to the track ) Front brake is super strong & uses a Venhill cable for a firm feel. Out back is a Novation aluminum swing arm & Ohlins shocks. Billet rear brake backing plate. stainless brake rod and billet aluminum pedal. This bike is ready to race. It is set up right and has been maintained right. If your looking for a just bolted together garage queen this is not the bike for you. I will assist with shipping any way I can.
