Here for your bidding pleasure is a year 2000 KX500 Super Motard that carries both off-road and street legal (dual registration) Washington State status. Brake light. turn signals. high beam/low beam tail light all work as they should. Has a locking ignition key but still retains the original kill switch plus new handlebar controls for the electrical items. Rubber mounted rear view mirrors. Upgraded ignition and 100 watt charging system by Powerdynamo/MZB. This is a fairly low hour bike that was converted last year and has maybe 100 miles on it since then. Vaportech dash has speed. tach. hi rev light. odometer. The wheels are 17" with Continental Super Motard tires and a 320mm front rotor. The bike comes with the complete stock dirt wheels so you can put it back in dirt trim if you wish. Takes about an hour to do that. The cylinder head was modified so it has a compression release FOR STARTING ONLY. Makes it much easier to start but still requires concentration and a rapid kick to get it going. Geared for street riding and has a spark arrestor on the muffler. There are a few dents in the stock expansion chamber that should have no effect. I noticed no difference. If you are looking at this you probably know what a KX500 is and what they will do. This is not a good bike for a beginner. It is a 500cc two stroke. It smokes. It 'stutters' like a two stroke (because it is one. ) until it clears out then it would be in your best interest to be hanging on and ready for a surge of power. It also vibrates. In 5th at about 70-75 on the freeway is when it clears out and runs smooth at steady throttle. Please keep in mind these were 'throttle on. throttle off' competition motocross and desert bikes. never designed to be on the street. I get a lot of looks and thumbs up when I ride it as it is way 'different' and you do not see many two strokes on the street any more. Not to mention one that sounds as 'wicked' as one of these. There are no fans on the radiators but it seems to stay cool even being stuck in some traffic and riding slow. I did not put a bunch of pictures on but will if someone requests I do so. There is one in street legal trim and two 'before' pictures. Local buyers only. If you need it shipped it is all on you. I will deliver the bike to your freight or shipping outfit or your house within a 20 mile radius of 98148 AFTER the auction is paid in full. PayPal or cashiers check accepted.
