Ninja 500R's liquid-cooled, nline twin-cylinder four-stroke engine with dual overhead cams actuating four valves per cylinder and lightweight (388 lbs) combine for an agile Sport-Touring motorcycle that makes an excellent first motorcycle but with performance in experienced hands to outride many liter bikes (12.4 sec. ¼ mile, -60 in 4.3 sec.) and for these reasons, t one of the longest production runs of any motorcycle. On twisty back roads, he bike's lightweight, ompact design makes for a great-handling machine. This is complemented by Kawasaki's Uni-Trak rear suspension system, ith a progressive linkage similar to the larger-displacement Ninja models.
