The front tire was replaced with a Michelin Pilot Power 3 and only has 850 miles on it. I have just replaced the rear tire (July 7) with a Michelin Pilot Power3ata local Kawasaki dealer. For good measure, also had the dealer replace the air filter.
This Concours did have the 7500 mile major service.
I have always used synthetic motorcycle oil for my oil changes. I also replace the shaft drive fluid with synthetic gear oil when I do the oil changes. On July 6, changed the oil with Mobil 1 motorcycle synthetic 10w40 and changed the filter. Also replaced the shaft drive fluid with Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube 70w-90.
On February 5, replaced the battery with a Shorai lithium battery ($184). This battery has 50 % more cold cranking amps and loses much less charge between riding. It will hold its charge up to a year if removed from power draining electronics. It is also much lighter than a lead-acid battery.
On May 21, replaced the rear brake pads, ront and rear brake fluid, lutch fluid, nd coolant. I was mistakenly favoring the single caliper rear brake - the front brake has 2 calipers. For best longevity, found that both brakes should be used together.
I can't stress the importance of having the Kawasaki Good Times Warranty on this bike. The bike comes with a 3 year warranty. I got the first 3 year extension from Kawasaki, nd when that was near expiration, got the second 3 year extension. It covers everything that the initial factory warranty covers with $0 deductible. It is good at any Kawasaki dealership.
The KBB value is $7,060 not including the warranty and low miles. Expected miles for this year bike is 33,000. I am selling for less to make a quick sale. For anyone that buys at the "Buy it Now" price, will throw in my prized Garmin 60 CSx with nationwide turn by turn navigation. I used it with Velcro on the Kawasaki for a 4000 mile trip to Colorado once, nd I use it in town all the time. I will also include a bicycle mount. Its great for long bike rides, oo.
Now is the smart time to buy - prices may go up. In September, hen the weather starts to be great for motorcycles here in Florida, here may be fewer sellers and more buyers.(Riding at 95 degrees in the summeris not quite as joyful.) And there won't be any 2008 with a factory Kawasaki warranty and GPS navigation.
This bike is FULLY serviced and good to go!
