2003 Kawasaki KLR 650 *needs repair--noisy motor*

This motorcycle was purchased new in 2003 by a friend of mine. He died suddenly a couple years ago, his bike sat for close to a year and I purchased it from his estate. While it was running when he died, t would not start after purchase, had the carburator rebuilt, alves adjusted and some other work performed to get it roadworthy at a local independent motorcycle shop. My wife rode it occasionally for two years until recently when the engine suddenly began making an odd noise. She took it to the same shop, hey were unable to diagnose the exact cause of the noise without tearing into the motor, ut thought it would need a rebuild. If you purchase this motorcycle, ssume you will be doing an engine swap or rebuilding this engine. I have heard it run and also cannot tell you exactly what the noise is. While I assume it will still start and run (with the aforementioned noise), will not guarantee that it will start.
This motorcyle has a number of aftermarket parts on it, hese parts are worth far more than the reserve price I have set. If the bike does not sell, will part it out.The parts I am aware of in no particular order are: progressive rear shock; progressive front springs, ork brace, andlebar risers, ms footpegs, ms brake pedal, ms shifter level, ear master cylinder guard, addle bag racks, ighway pegs, eated grips, etal skid plate, versized rear rack, ustom saddle, enter stand, ear subframe bolt kit, doohickey upgrade",acerbis handgrips, nd probably more that I cannot remember at present.The front tire is in decent shape, he rear has less than 100 miles on it, he battery is also new this year.If you purchase this motorcycle please be prepared to load and haul it.
