Description

I have owned this bike since 2010 and when I bought it there was a bit of work needed. It ran and rode fine but needed a bit of tlc. It is an incredibly hard thing to do but I was gifted a Harley and can't have 2 bikes. My garage is too damn small! I have put a ton of heart. nbsp;soul. nbsp;blood. nbsp;sweat and tears into making this machine what I wanted. It is nothing like any other you will find. It rides and runs like a bat out of hell. I have built it to handle and leaned over hard you can just about jump off and watch it carve. Super stable in the twisties. Last ride I took was 1. 00 miles in 3 days to D. C. and back and she sat out on the highway and just went. Flawless. Well. nbsp;except for some paint scuffs. It needs not one thing. I am going to list the parts and upgrades to the best of my ability. I have receipts for some of it. nbsp;1. 17. 90 worth. I will also include a tank bag seen in pics and a well used and falling apart Clymer manual. It was my bible for a long time. Here is the long list. New Delkevic exhaust-sounds awesomeCooling system rebuilt roughly 6. 00 miles ago. New t-stat and gasket along with coolant log o-rings. New temp sensor. nbsp;radiator cap and flush. Carbs rebuilt last winter with jets. nbsp;float valves. nbsp;gaskets and clamp on filters which I LOVE. I also sent them out when I bought the bike and had overflow tubes installed by a guy in Florida who is a total Connie guru and owns a business just dealing with the Connie. I also installed his offset cam sprockets along with a new timing chain and guides. Previous owner installed a manual adjuster. (There is a story to go with this work)New led rear signals and flashing led brake lights mounted and wired through hard bags. Very bright and anyone who can see WILL see these flash. I had a friend tell me I may get rear-ended due to causing a seizure to someone following me. Installed H. I. D. Headlight kit which is awesome!! I HAVE NOT YET SCRATCHED THE SURFACE OF MY WORK Installed a digital voltage meter. So important to have. I was stuck on the side of the road with a dead bike 2 summers ago and it spurred a mad hunt for the cause. Thought the alt was bad but it was actually corroded alt wires. I then went crazy going through the harness. nbsp;replacing any wire that was even slightly corroded. Once that was complete I installed the meter. Front suspension is so aftermarket there is barely even a stock seal in the forks. I put a custom Race Tech fork setup in it. It is lowered with Gold Valve Emulators. nbsp;springs and custom damping rods. The old air setup is completely gone. Crossover tubes removed and holes plugged. 20wt fork oil is new also. I have emulator springs and lowering spacers to go with it for any setup you want to try. It is stiff but you can feel the road so well and the front wheel stays perfectly planted to the road. The rear suspension is completely custom as well. I installed a ZX14 rear shock with a remote reservoir and all the adjustments. It is about an inch and a half taller than the stock air shock. I also had custom height CNC machined links built with 4 inches of adjustment. They allow you to go plus or minus 2 inches over stock height. I have them adjusted high which points the nose toward the ground. Makes the bike ultra responsive. and gives it a quick turn in. Handle bars and controls are also totally aftermarket and custom. I really didn’t care for the stock clip on or the lack of adjustment. I personally fabricated bar clamps to be just what I wanted. The bars are an mx bend and were new last winter along with the grips and adjustable levers (clutch. nbsp;brake). I also have a RAM mount base and ball adapter that will be included. There are also custom risers on it that pivot. I also installed a set of PowerMadd hand guards. I did this mainly for look but they do protect your knuckles from stones. nbsp;bugs. nbsp;birds. etc. Before my last big trip on the super slab I installed an adjustable throttle lock. I can’t remember the brand and can’t remember where the recipt is because it was an “on the fly” job but they did cost 60 bucks. I have also rebuilt the clutch and front brake master cyclinders. I also installed a 10way adjustable steering damper. !!WHOA!! What a change that was. Really plants the front end. I have installed steel braided lines from Galfer. I replaced all lines. nbsp;brakes front and rear and clutch. Great feel! The clutch is new. (There is a story) I replaced the plates with EBC as well as EBC stiff springs. The upgraded Star Spring is also installed. I did this work maybe 10k miles ago. Clutch pull is stiffer than stock but after the first few stop signs you don’t feel it. I believe I still have the stockers along with a spare pressure plate. During the winter of 12/13 I completely tore down the bike. nbsp;checked and adjusted everything and during that time I decided to build Stick Coils for it. Wondering what that is? I replaced the 2 ignition coils and all wires with Honda CBR coil on plug setup. During this time I adjusted the valves and replaced the plugs. This was done around 5k miles ago. I have also installed a 94 and up front fender because I liked its shape over the stock fender. I also installed a fork brace to reduce flex in the forks. The gas cap had always vented fumes directly up into my helmet. I ended up replacing the cap with a non locking cap (there was a night when I dropped the key down into the area between the radiator and engine and had to dysect the bike in a Hess parking lot. ) The cap replacement helped but did not cure it completely so I bored a hole just in front of the cap. nbsp;threaded in an air valve I had laying around and attached a piece of fuel line to it directing it into the steering head. This completely solved the problem. The tires are great. The front Avon Road Rider is 2 yrs old and has lots and lots of life left. The rear is an Avon Storm VR2. nbsp;or something like that. They stick well and have been scuffed out to the edges. This bike has been around for nearly 30yrs and has some vissible flaws but nothing that stands out at all. It could use a new front fairing. It has tipped over a couple times in my possession which there are stories to. I repaired the crack but the signal light mounting holes on the inside are broken. I was going to make that my winter project along with replacing the gauges with gauges from a 94 and up model. I have the new fairing stay and the fairing on e-bay can be had for well under 100. My point to all of this is that I love this bike and have had an open checkbook so to speak for whatever I wanted or needed. I never thought of selling this bike and would love to keep it around forever but that isn’t happening. I don’t know what it is worth. nbsp;there is just too much to it that it has leaned over to the custom side. I know for sure there is nothing needed at all and it will please who ever sits on it next.
