Great classic motorcycle. It is not an ex-cop bike. It has been restored to look like it did originally. but with upgrades to make it more usable. For film-buffs. this is the year and model bike that was featured in the first "Mad Max" movie. The MFP bike ridden by Jim Goose was a modified 1977 KZ1000. This KZ1000 that has been completely rebuilt/restored with a couple of upgrades. It has been completely dis-assembled and repainted. re-chromed. replaced (with OEM parts where possible) and restored to as-good-as (or better-than) new. Work done includes:Frame powder-coated. Tank and body panels repainted by "Vintage Vendor" (now has a couple of chips that have occurred during use since painting). All rubber parts replaced with new OEM or reproduction parts. Engine completely rebuilt. Re-bored 1mm over (1045cc) and Wiseco 10:1 pistons fitted. All seals and internal rubber parts replaced. New cam chain. Crankshaft checked for trueness. Head ported and refurbished by Cavanagh Racing Heads. Podtronics rectifier/regulator. Dyna coils and ignition. New swinging arm pin and needle-roller bearings (eliminates rear-wheel steering caused by worn components). Ikon rear shocks (Ikons are now made in Australia and are the new name for the world-famous Koni motorcycle shocks - adjustable for pre-load and damping. and rebuildable). Tapered "All Balls" roller steering-head bearings (improvement over the standard ball-bearings). Euro-style twin front disk brakes (was standard on European models. but an option on US models) with correct 5/8" master cylinder (rare round-reservoir item). Race-tech cartridge emulators and front springs. Wheels trued and balanced by Wheelworks in Garden Grove. 28mm Mikuni VM pumper carburetors (a performance upgrade from the standard 26mm carbs that was used on later KZ models). Still have originals that can be bought separately. Has OEM toolkit that is complete. except for one component. Has original users manual. The exhaust system is Kawasaki OEM re-chromed headers. with replica Dunstall Decibel mufflers. which looks quite similar to the original exhaust system. but is less restrictive. Originally. the mufflers were welded to #1 and #4 pipes. but these mufflers had a bad habit of rusting out. There are very few original exhaust systems still in existence. most were replaced with 4-into-1 systems years ago. This bike's 4-into-2 system is unusual and more in keeping with the original look. There's probably more stuff that I haven't listed - just ask. Also. see magazine and brochure scans in the pictures for more info on this model bike. I ride it pretty regularly (it has current tags) and can assure you that it will perform more than adequately while still looking cool. Mileage will increase as I ride it until it sells. On Mar-13-15 at 12:33:29 PDT. seller added the following information: A couple of the questions I have been asked make me want to point out that this bike is not a "show" bike. I built this bike to be a good rider for today's environment. while still being a classic in its own right. It does not have mirror polished engine cases. because they didn't come from the factory like that. It has original wheels. with good chrome. but it does not have stainless spokes or mirror-polished hubs. etc. So. if you think that you are buying an investment. or a bike that will win 1st at a concourse show. well. you aren't. Just want to be clear. It's a great bike for an enthusiast to ride. On Mar-16-15 at 09:30:24 PDT. seller added the following information:Apparently. the listing says "sell to US only. " I must have made a mistake. I will gladly sell to US. Canada. Europe. Australia & Japan. I eBay won't let you bid. please contact me. I might have to relist to correct this problem.
