Here is a 1974 Rickman Zundapp ISDT British Team Replica, factory-built model that was issued after the 1973 ISDT, uring which the British team chose Rickman to supply their 125cc class entries.
The basis of the machine was the 125 Micro Metisse, successful off-road racer that used the same frame, otor and suspension. The ISDT model featured slightly different bodywork, ncorporating fully road-legal Lucas lighting and turn signals. The tank is steel, ot fiberglass, nd a small battery compartment islocated under the left-hand side panel. Rickman typically used the best components available; Betor front forks, arzocchi rear suspension units, ickman's own hubs with magnesium brakeplates and a Nippon Seiki speedometer.
This machine has recorded just 1,069 miles, hich could well be theoriginal mileage. The bike is still on itsoriginal Dunlop Sport tires both front and rear, hich show little wear. The paint on the motor shows normal wear expected from off-road competition work. The mileage cannot, f course be verified but the overallcondition of the bike supports such limited use. The bodywork has been repainted about 5 years ago in the correct shade of red and is in superb condition; deep andglossy with few marks or scratches. The right hand leading edge of the tank has a 1/3" chip, etouched in a not-quite-matching shade of red. The rear tail fairing has some scratches from tie-down straps on the left-hand side (pictured) and a few much lighter marks on the top (almost impossible to photograph.
Thewheelrims are the original chrome Dunlop rims, arked "Made in England". The front rim has some light corrosion and pitting, specially between the spoke holes. It looks reasonable in the photographs but is probably the weakest part of the bike. The rear rim - also Dunlop - is in excellent, lmost unmarked condition. The tires, s mentioned earlier are period-correct Dunlop Sport tires, robably too hard to use safely on the road.
The nickel-plated frame polishes up very well and the visible parts have a good shine. There is no major corrosion on the lessaccessible parts and the overall condition is very good. A few awkward areas such as the inside of the rear shock mounts havelight surface rust and/or dull plating. They may improve with a thorough cleaning.
The original exhaust system complete with the road-legal spark arrestor is fitted. It's in decent shape with no rust or cracks, ut there is a shallow 1" dent on the rear muffler section. The seat is in excellent condition and quite possibly is the original fitment. It has a zipped pocket for tool storage on the left-hand side.
The motorcycle has not been run for about 3 years and willrequire the usual recommissioning work - carburetor and ignition setting along with a new battery. The bike has been properly stored and the motor has been turned over frequently. It has good compression, ll the gears selectcorrectly and all the controls operate smoothly. A new petcock and fuel line were installed recently.
Please note: this motorcycle has NO TITLE, s Alabama does not issue titles forvehicles of this age. EBay does not have this as a selectable choice. The bike will be sold with a Bill of Sale, hich can benotarized if required. I can also offer to register the bike and provide a current tag and registration document in my name, f needed, utthe buyer will need to cover the costs (about $125) and it will take 2-3 days after the auction ends to obtain.
This motorcycle is sold "As Is - Where Is"; no warranties, uarantees whatsoever. This description is intended to help you decide on the condition and value; I have described it accurately to the best of my ability. Personal inspection welcomed and encouraged prior to bidding.
