I am the original owner; I bought this motorcycle new in 1985 and have been the only rider. I am downsizing my life in preparation for a move and it's time for this bike to have a new and loving owner. I have always stored it indoors and prepped it for storage each fall by draining the gas and oil and lubing the cylinders. It has been many years since I last drove it. so I put a new battery in it this spring and fresh gas and oil. and it starts and runs but I noticed gasoline dripping off one of the carburetors so there is a gas leak that needs fixing before this motorcycle can safely be ridden. It likely needs a tune-up as well (it has fresh oil but needs a new oil filter. air filter and plugs. and will need to have the front fork aired up). I know of no other mechanical problems with the bike. and it is very low mileage so I don't expect there is anything else that needs to be fixed. That said. I would expect the buyer to do his own inspection and come to his own conclusions. Probably the main thing would be to find and fix the gas leak and inspect and replace any old rubber hoses. since this bike dates from the mid eighties! The tires have plenty of tread. as shown by the penny in the pictures. The tank has a small dent on the front left from me dropping it while I was draining the gas one year. There are also some scratches on the engine cover near the left footpeg (from me laying the bike over on some gravel one year) and the center kickstand is rusted. The original manual and both original keys are included. It has just 3719 miles. In good tune. the 1200cc engine pulls like a freight train and this cycle is a blast to ride because of the shaft drive and the low center of gravity. I am not a big guy (5'8". 180) but I have never had a single problem holding this bike up. putting it up on the center stand or riding it. because it is just so beautifully low-slung and has such a low center of gravity that it feels like a much smaller motorcycle. The only time you know it's not is when you twist the throttle. With some tender loving care. this bike will be a blast for its next owner but it needs to exit my life. so I am selling it with no reserve. Your only job will be to get it fixed. and you'll have a truly fantastic motorcycle for next to nothing! Good luck!On Apr-17-15 at 08:40:18 PDT. seller added the following information:(FYI: The motorcycle model is a GV1200GL. not a GV1200GS as listed in the title. )On Apr-18-15 at 15:34:44 PDT. seller added the following information:There are numerous small scratches and scuffs on the fuel tank. side covers. tail pipes and I expect various other places as you would expect on a 30-year old motorcycle. most of which appear to be superficial and which would buff out. Please feel free to let me know if you have any specific questions prior to bidding! On Apr-19-15 at 07:42:56 PDT. seller added the following information:I have had questions about using PayPal as a payment method. Ebay policies don't allow that on motor vehicle sales. so please be aware this is a cash-only. in-person sale. If you are the winning bidder. you will simply come to my house to see the bike. verify that it is what you expected. then we will both go to my bank (it's just a few blocks from my house) to sign over the title to you. nbsp;deposit your cash payment and provide you with a notarized bill of sale--at which point you own the bike. Then we simply return to my house and you haul the bike away. It's pretty simple. really. I've conducted several vehicle sales on Ebay this way as both a buyer and seller. and this process protects both of us. Please email me if you have any concerns. and thanks! On Apr-19-15 at 08:52:30 PDT. seller added the following information:For those wishing to learn more about this bike and read about others' opinions and experiences with it. here is a review site I found that discusses the Madura: http://www. reviewcentre. com/reviews96145. html
