The best that I can tell this is an early 1978 model RM250 It has a frame number RM250 21447 with engine number RM250 21374 The 1978 1/2 models start at serial number 30642 and up. I do not know if the engine is original to this bike the numbers do not match. They both are definitely RM models. THIS BIKE DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE. It will a written receipt only. I got it in a group purchase around 2 years ago. I had plans to restore this but now my plans have changed so I am putting it up for auction. In the summer of 2013 I took the carb off and cleaned it. The bike was always a little hard to start but once started it ran real strong. I rode it maybe 6 or 7 times that summer and put it away ever since then. I attempted to start it for this sale and it is not getting fuel through the carb now. It does start right up with starting fluid. The gas tank is clean inside and out. So I am selling this bike as a not running bike. You can get an idea of the condition with the many pictures that I have with this listing. I have done nothing to it but cleaned the carb a couple of years ago as described above. Someone painted the tank and the plastics. There are no dents in the tank and it is pretty clean. The plastics are not cracked. The previous owner got carried away with the black paint and got it in places that I would not have put it. The tires hold air but are cracking. The rims turn good. The bike shifts good. I think everything is there but the silencer. The forks need seals or oil they go up and down but are soft. As you can see from the pictures it is a well used motocross bike. It is not restored but has lots of potential. Most parts on it will need polished to look nice I have never taken the engine apart so I don't know what size piston it has (original or bored). You can put tires on it rebuild or clean the carb and ride it or do a complete restoration on it. These early years are getting hard to find in any condition. It is for sale as it is. I have tried to represent it as best I can. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. I will not contact a shipper if you purchase this. I am only available on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays to load it for you or your carrier. I will help load it but will not palletize or crate this bike. The bike is in zip code 62040 If you win this bike contact me for payment. I accept paypal or partial paypal and cash upon pickup. You must put a minimum of 30 percent of the sale price on Paypal so I know you are serious. If you have more questions email call or text me at 510 289 5219On Apr-24-15 at 17:50:35 PDT. seller added the following information: Some people have brought up this might be a 1977 bike. I think they are right. 2 different web sites say that both the engine and the frame are 1977. (oem-cycle. com)Another web site says its an early 1978 frame and a 1977 engine. Take what you want from this. When I look at the silencer on pictures of the 1978 it looks more like a 1977 So if the year matters to you do some research and decide what you think. The brakes do work. There is no oil around the rear shocks. I have never cleaned them so they either don't leak or leaked all oil out years ago. I have been asked does the engine leak oil and currently it has some oil behind the front sprocket. The bottom of the engine is fairly clean. I will add some more pictures on Saturday. The bolts at the top of the forks are rounded. The fork tubes are covered and I have never taken them off. This is a 37 or 38 year old dirt bike or racer that obviously has had some work done to it but will need plenty to more to race or restore or depend on it to trail ride. It is basically as you see it in the pictures 95 percent of it is there in various states of condition. The tank fenders and side covers have been painted. The seat looks original. The sprocket cover is cracked. It is being sold as non running and is as it as. Call. text or email me if you want to know anything elseThanks for looking!!!
