Item Details: The fantastic thing about the SpeedTriple R is that it's from an already phenomenal bike. Triumph. in 1994. introduced the SpeedTriple. with the simple idea of smashing one of their best engines in a solid chassis. Fast forward 10 years and they keep turning both wrenches and heads. The standard SpeedTriple with it's KYB shocks. operated fantastically. making extremely enthusiastic power through the entire mid range. not something commonly found on some liter bikes. It's a bike you can track or daily; perfectly usable and comfortable. And there is what turns the SpeedTriple into the SpeedTriple R. The Shock shocks/forks are swapped out for Ohlins forks in the front and Ohlins rear shock and spring. Both adjustable for pre-load. compression. and rebound damping. If you don't know Ohlin's. you don't know motorsport. And then the brakes are swapped out. The brakes on the standard SpeedTriple are very effective and grip like a gorilla. but when you want the best in braking. you need only knock one door: Brembo. Triumph is running Brembo's Radial Mounted Monobloc calipers tethered to a Brembo master cylinder with ABS all around. What does this create? It creates a bike that went from stopping on a dime to stopping on the tip of a ball point pen. Styling cues have been added because. let's face it. when you get the "R" package in anything. you want people to see it. but don't want to be too flashy. Let people know you have a unique bike. but not entirely sure why. Until you smash them in the twisties and they see all the goodies you have working for you. So you get pin striping on the now Forged wheels for less weight. the subframe is painted red. and carbon fiber is dripped all over the bike. like a pastry chef with a cake. That runs on gasoline. And goes a lot faster than a cake. A lot. Last but not least. Triumph fitted the Speed Triple R with Forged wheels to remove around 2 lbs off the rear tire and about 1. 5lbs in the front. but what does that mean to us? A lot. First off. it's harder to move something that weighs more. so your acceleration picks up. And if you really want to get technical. due to a gyroscopic effect of rotating wheels. the motorcycle will be more inclined to turn more quickly and shift weight. Faster and more agile bike. So I'd have to physically improve what I was implying was improved. just like Triumph. I'd have to turn something I already think is fantastic into something wildly extraordinary. The three cylinder is a timeless classic and it's easy to see. hear. and feel why. The naked bike design is purposeful as well as designed to look fantastic.
