1981 Yamaha FJ 550 maxim motorcycle

I bought this motorcycle in 1997 from a friend whose son no longer wanted to ride it after he dumped it in 1981 soon after he bought it. His son put 618 miles on it and had a small accident which resulted in slight damage to the motorcycle. His son there after was afraid to ride it and it was put in their garage only to be started periodically to ensure that it would continue to start. the odometer was broken. but the speedometer and tachometer work fine. Since I only used this bike infrequently and did not commute on it I elected not to fix the odometer. In hindsight. this was a mistake as I CAN ONLY ESTIMATE THE MILEAGE AT 3. 00 MILES OR SO SINCE ODOMETER IS NOT WORKING. I recently replaced both sprockets. the chain put new Dunlop tires on and had the carbs rebuilt. The bike runs fast and strong. I recently bought a 1300 honda interstate and the 550 would out accelerate it. the way the bike runs and the pictures back up the low mileage estimate. the purchase of the interstate is why I am selling the 550. you won't see many of these 1981 maxim's running around especially in this shape.
