Description

I have owned this motorcycle since December of 1997 when I purchased it from the original Yamaha dealer with 3000 miles on it. It has been garage stored and perfectly maintained for 18 years. This is the first year (1996) model for the Royal Star Tour Classic. They were introduced to compete with the big cruisers of the day. They took some criticism at the time as being under powered at 84 horsepower. The engine is the same time tested bullet proof engine found in the lightning fast 174 hp Yamaha V-Max. only calmed down to be set up in a big cruiser. The 1996 model came out stock at 84 hp. Subsequent year models were redesigned to release more of the enormous power potential of this engine design. I made minor tuning changes to this one to realize just some of the hidden power. Features: Horsepower boosted from 84 stock to approximately 100 with K & N air filters (4). Stage one needles in each of 4 stock Mikuni carbs and 4 Jardine model specific exhaust pipes. The water cooled 1300 cc v4 engine with overhead cams is very strong and very smooth! Just enough growl out of the pipes to make you smile. but not deaf. The 5 speed transmission is effortless and smooth to shift and is connected to a solid drive shaft. I regularly get 36 to 40 miles per gallon at 70 miles per hour. Very strong twin double piston hydraulic brakes on the front. single twin piston hydraulic brakes on the rear. The clutch is also hydraulic! Twin shocks on the front and one large center line adjustable shock one the rear. The tires are Dunlop model specific with only 5000 miles. The battery is 2 years old and fully charged I changed the seating to one. but it can easily be returned to two. Add-ons that enhance the looks and performance include electric air horns. lower spot lights added to compliment the upper stock driving lights. I rebuilt a set of 1958 vintage "Rocket"marker lights from my dad's 1958 Harley FLP and installed them as a tribute to the guy who taught me to ride. I designed and built a custom articulating removable chrome and padded leather backrest which is not pictured but is included. A rear fender luggage rack protects the fender. The saddle bags are leather covered steel bins with zippered pockets inside the lids. Extra chrome includes hand grips. heel/toe shifter. foot boards. battery cowl covers (one of which has some peeling and can be easily replaced). seat rail and seat conches. license plate holder. front and rear fender trim. front fender rail and a chrome signature royal star front fender ornament. The custom seat. back rest and saddle bags have matching chrome buttons. Included with the sale are the following items. Owners manual. full shop manual. full body soft cover. 4 white helmets. one large closed full face. one large open full face. two large half shell. I will also include (if wanted) a set of leather riding chaps that fit a 180 to 200 lb man 6 feet tall. I would never sell this bike if the Doctor didn't tell me no more riding. It will be a source of pride for anyone who appreciates great engineering and performance blended with style of design.
