Barn Find and Survivor 1979 Yamaha XS1100 Special

Barn Find! 1979 Yamaha XS1100 Special. This bike has been sitting in a barn since 1991 before it came into my shop in 2006. These bikes were labeled as 1100s not only for the displacement but they were capable of an 11.0 second Quarter Mile! These were the forerunner of the SUPERBIKES! Cycle Magazine had this to say of the Eleven: "...the XS is a Rolls Royce with a blown Chrysler Hemi motor..." That is because these bikes has the Hemi Head design !!!! You can actually say that you "RIDE" a Hemi! The bike has a Kerker header, he motor turns over freely and has been fogged and is kicked over occasionally with good compression. The carburetors have been cleaned but have not been reinstalled. The bike does not show any signs of road rash to indicate that it was ever laid down. There is no title or keys. This bike is ready to be serviced, polished and ridden.
