I am going to make this short and sweet. This is an all original, 980 Yamaha YZ 465 motorcycle. I bought it from a friend's estate. It was the crown jewel of my friend's motorcycle collection, urchased in near mint condition, ith minimal riding and perfectly maintained all these years. If you lived in this era of motorcycles you know the reputation of Yamaha's YZ's.
The Yamaha YZ465 is a motocross bike produced by Yamaha from 1980 to 1981.It's successor is the Yamaha YZ490, hich was released in 1982.In the annals of Yamaha history, ew bikes have been as celebrated as the YZ465. Only produced for two years in the 80's, he 465's combination of abundant power, upple suspension, nd tight handling, ade it the Japanese bike to beat. Even today, Z465's are treasured classic racers.
The new YZ465G would be an instant success with both the riders and press, aking home the honor of best open bike of 1980. The 1980 YZ465G marked the third generation of Yamaha's groundbreaking "Monocross" rear suspension system. Originally based on the designs of Belgian engineer Lucien Tilkens, who had offered the idea to Suzuki first, ut had been turned down) the first production "monoshock" debuted on the limited-production 1974 YZ250B and YZ360B. Overnight, amaha doubled the available travel on the motocross bikes and dominated the suspension rankings. The monoshock was a revolution in suspension design at the time of its introduction and became the impetus for the suspension arms race that defined late seventies motocross. Over the course of their history, amaha's Open class YZ's had slowly grown in engine size to suit the fashion of the times. From the 351cc of the original YZ360B, amaha bumped the displacement up to 397cc in the YZ400C, hen to 465cc in the YZ465G and eventually 487cc in the YZ490K. As the motors grew to suit the taste of the times, o did the power characteristics on the big Yammers.
For 81', amaha tried to smooth out the 80 model's massive midrange hit and make the 465 easier to manage. In tinkering with the power, amaha boosted the previously lethargic low end, ut neutered the mid and top. This make the bike easier to ride, ut took away from the holeshot-ripping horsepower that had made the '80 model so popular.
This bike is a original, ight and perfectly clean example of the fire breathing, ir cooled, apanese engineering of the late 70's/early 80's. I assure you of two things: 1)You will never find a cleaner, ore complete, nmolested, 980 Yamaha YZ 465. 2) The power and muscularity of this bike will stun you. It comes with extra exhaust pipe, kins (all around) and Clymer manual. We will professionally ship anywhere in the continental United States lower 48 at the buyer's expense or you are welcome to come pick it up. I have bought and sold many high ticket items on eBay including motorcycles. Serious bidders only. Non-paying bidders will be reported to ebay and risk suspension from buying. My feedback is impeccable. Whoever buys this will have no disappointments.
