I have my 1982 Yamaha Turbo Seca XJ650LJ for sale. Its in good running and looking condition as the pictures show. If you are not familiar with turbo bikes, ack in the early 80's these bikes were the latest craze, n attempt to get large amounts of horsepower from smaller power plants, ike this 650cc. They didnt go over well as to the high price tag when new, nd the word "Turbo" made your insurance rates go up.
I bought this bike because I love rare vehicles in general, ts a blast to ride and watch the turbo boost gauge rise and feel the kick in seat when it does. I dont know if I would call this a "beginners bike" as it is a little scary because it is fast, ut more so the handling is of 1982 technology, s well as the brakes. It has a rear drum brake, nd the factory single piston front calipers so it does not stop on a dime as today's modern bikes do, specially when the turbo boost hits and you have to slow the bike in a hurry, t can be scary! But dont get me wrong, he bike is a lot of fun, ust be aware that this machine may not be for everyone. Its comfort level in riding possition is like that of a sport touring bike though.
I recently have changed the oil, eplaced the fork seals, leaned the carburetors, tc.
The bike is 30 plus years old, ut operates as it should, owever occassionally the left turn signal will not blink (stays on solid), he fuel gauge reads empty sometimes when its full of gas and once in a while the tachometer seems slow to react to change in engine speeds. The bike also has a modern aftermarket fuel shutoff installed. These bikes can be quirky and not many people know much about them at bike shops anymore, nd they are fairly complex, here is however a whole online community dedicated to these nostalgic turbo motorcycles though that has helped me with an issue or two since owning it.
I would recommend anyone interested in it to contact me either thru this ad or by phone at 717 265 5121 (no texts please, all) and come and check it out in person so you know what you are buying.
I made and posted a video of it on youtube it can be found by searching: mr170578vxa turbo seca for sale
Although its in good condition, gain it is over 30 years old, m selling it AS IS.
It presently has 18400 miles on it, t may change as I ride the bike often.
I have this bike listed elsewhere for sale, his listing can end at anytime due to sale of the bike!
