Description

Most of the description of this 1980 Yamaha IT 425 G are in the pictures and the list of items replaced. I found this bike on the local craigslist. mentioned it to a buddy. and he said "Go get it. I'll pay you back". But after bringing it home. I found that it needed much more than I thought. And. since I overspent. I haven't heard back from him. I've got over $1600 in this thing. not including the tire replacement (I took these tires off of my 2012 KTM. which are pretty darn good). and my time (three weeks or so). I have the receipts for almost everything that I did to bring this thing to operational capability. I had a 1978 IT 400. two 1980 IT 175's. a 1981 IT 175. a 1982 IT 175. and a 1986 IT 200. The things that I don't have are the number plates. headlight. and taillight. The young man that had it before me painted everything. Which would be way cool. except if you ride something that is painted. it will get scratched. Also. he painted the original blue tank (included). which. when filled with fuel and a little heat hits it. will bubble and peel. I added a 1979 YZ 125 tank. just to set this thing apart (and. considering the fuel capacity. would be about the time that an old guy of 55 like me would decide it's time to go back to the air conditioning). Frame and engine numbers match! And. I have some extras too. Some are pictured. others are not. Here's what I repaired or replaced: Seals. Spacer. Kickstand. Drain bolt. Kill switch. Exhaust bolts. Filter housing. Clutch cable. Clamp. bolts. Filter. grips. key. Throttle. cable. stays. Clutch gasket. Shift shaft. Base gaskets. Head gasket. Silencer. Detent cam stopper. Swingarm thrust. Swingarm bearings. Yellow tank. Petcock. Key. levers. cable. Swingarm seal. Head bearing kit. Carb. Front fender. Intake boot. Tank cap. Coil. Rear fender. Fork boots. seals. Oils. Airbox lid. Tires. A good friend (D. B. ) popped the pipe out up by the tank. but the rest of the pipe is outstanding. Again. I have the receipts for almost everything. I also had my local (but very trusted) mechanic check out the motor. which checked out fine. Measured consistent 120+# compressionGrab ahold of this sucker. twist the throttle. and you'll see it's the real deal. A whole lot of fun! I'll include more info if asked for. but I have no desire or inclination to part this thing out. It's already paid for. I just don't need it in my corral of 5 other bikes. And. my older buddies have challenged me to race it vintage. so either the whole bike goes or I have to see if I can hold on to this thing long enough to whoop their butts!Bill of sale only. as most 35 year olds' can't find their birth certificate. and this bike probably never had a title. ***My eBay listing says that I have an unanswered question. but I am unable to find any unanswered questions. I have answered two questions. so if you've asked a question and I have not responded. please resubmit your question. Thanks!!!***
