Description

1949 HUDSON SUPER SIX SEDAN HISTORY The Hudson Motor Car Company was known for producing durable. well engineered but conservatively styled automobiles. That reputation was to be forever changed on December 7th. 1947 when Hudson introduced their new 1948 models in nationwide showings. Banners proclaimed “This Time It’s Hudson”. The cars won instant acclaim from the public. Production had actually begun on October 12th. The tremendous factory conversion effort took only 23 days. Hudson spent $16. 00. 00 for development and new production equipment. The new car was revolutionary in that virtually no parts interchanged with the 1947 models. except the eight cylinder engine. which was essentially the same. The car had the lowest center of gravity and the lowest roofline of any American car without sacrificing headroom. due to the floorpans being attached to the bottom of the frame members instead of the top as all previous American cars had been. While the 1941 Nash 600 had been the first production unibody car. the new Hudson was significantly more rugged in construction and offered a sleek new design that was way ahead of the competition. The new body design was termed “Monobilt” because the body structure was of welded all steel construction. The cars were available in Super and Commodore trim levels with either a Six or Eight cylinder engine. The 1949 Super Six Sedan featured in this auction spent its life as a car in Sunny Dry Arizona. It was purchased there by a Hudson Club member and taken to the Dallas / Fort Worth area in 1999. I took it in on trade in 2010 and did the cosmetic restoration. The options include two Tone paint. Radio and Heater. Whitewall tires. a windshield visor and fuel door guard. The original matching numbers 262 engine is still in place. It has standard shift with Overdrive and a 4 1/9 rear axle. The current mileage is 103. 00. I believe this to be the original mileage. CONDITION This car is a beautifully Restored car that will drive to any destination. You could start driving this car every day. It runs and drives well and has a cruising speed of 65-75 MPH. In 2010 it was repainted Glowing Gray over Queenstown Gray. It still has a nearly flawless mirror finish. The car is perfect structurally due to having always been in a dry climate. The exterior chrome is nice original along with some rechromed and NOS pieces. The stainless trim is freshly polished. About 10 years ago it was treated to a comprehensive mechanical restoration at Wildrick Restoration. In 2010 the interior Woodgrained panels were refinished. The interior was completely restored using period correct materials. All of the lights. Gauges and horns work. The Clock and Radio are inop. Everything else on the car functions correctly. There is a Nice Matched set of bias ply collector car tires on powder coated wheels including a matching spare wheel. This car is beautifully restored and runs strong! It is currently Licensed. Insured and on the road. It has been driven about 3. 00 miles in the last four years. The current owner is selling his last collector car due to his age. This car is offered at much less than restoration costs! DETAILS This is a Beautiful Hudson Super Six sedan. You can drive this car to Cruise Ins and shows right now.
