As it turns out buying cars as a gut feeling to try to fill a void in your life without your wife's approval doesn't really work out too well in the end, s you can see by visiting this auction.
A little bit of background info on the car. I now work for a BMW specific shop in NYC, am a service manager. This car was brought by a customer over a year ago, e was on the road and the car's S50 took a dump and needed a head gasket. We have options to have the engine rebuilt or replaced with a lower mileage S52 from an E36 M3/4/5. The customer chose to go down this path, hile there the car had new gaskets installed, ew fluids, ooling system redone, 50 manifold was transferred over and the S52 was converted correctly back to OBD1 compatibility, eaning all sensors work, here are no Codes in the ECU, heck Engine Light IS NOT ON! Air bag light is NOT ON either.
The car runs and drives well for it's age, ind you it is 21 years old. Meaning it is old enough to drink, et it holds it's composure better than most 21 year old's after a few drinks. Some things are relatively worn out and that is to be expected at this age, uch as the shifter bushings, he throws just are not as precise as they were in the 90's. The suspension too it feels umm a bit soft to be honest. I have sourced already a set of lowering H&R springs along with front Koni inserts in stock housings before my wife unleashed fury and killed the project. She received the news the same way Alfa Romeo was received by the American public back in the day, hey just don't understand the connection between man and a machine and what joy it brings to his daily commute.
The car has a few cosmetic flaws too, he pass seat has stitching that is separating on the bottom of the seat, he driver's side vader headrest has separated from it's back cover. The rear bumper has some fade on it.
The good news is that almost all the panels are original on the car. It was involved in a frontal accident I think in 2010, hat required the replacement of the nose panel, ood, ront bumper, nd radiator support. Then again accidentally tripping and hitting the nose panel with your knee gently would yield the same results. This car was not designed back in the 90's to do well with minor impacts but it was rather designed to avoid them and it shows because it was Crowned The Best Handling Car above all much more expensive sports cars. All other VIN tags are there.
The body is straight, he car drives straight, ngine is smooth and sounds healthy at WOT. Brakes are good too. Tires are matching and in good standing. It is a good clean slate to begin throwing new parts at it such as a nice suspension set up. If you want something that will bring you joy then this is the car. Be not afraid of spending some money on bringing it up to the way you like it.
Keep in mind this is not a pristine vehicle and do not assume so, t is 21 years old and is eligible for Historic plates in some states so use due diligence when bidding. If you have any questions feel free to email me. If you wish to come down drive it and take a look at it you're more than welcome to do so. PPI's are recommended for any used car you buy. But chances are since you found this auction you know what you are looking at.
This Vehicle is being sold AS IS, HERE IS, ITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
SHIPPING CAN BE ARRANGED AT BUYERS EXPENSE.
If you are a MASSACHUSETTS RESIDENT please be familiar with the 2 lines above this and understand if you buy this car it is your responsibility to make sure it passes inspection in that forsaken Commonwealth. Otherwise your bids will be cancelled.
My apologies for the pictures not showing up for some reason photobucket is being absolutely worthless at this point and time, have been playing with them for about 2 hours now. Please follow the link to see all pics of the car.

Answering question about ENGINE: The original S50B30US engine was replaced with a later S52B32 engine and converted to OBD1 with an S50 Intake manifold.
