Description

1998 BMW M3 Track Car / South Orange County, a
Car is well sorted, eliable and easy on consumables. The suspension has all been freshened with less than 10 days on it. On NT01s car runs easy 1.55s at Buttonwillow 13CW, 1.56 at Chuckwalla CCW for reference (mediocre driver that I am). Car has been maintained well with frequent fluid changes and no issues that require attention. Take it out and run it all season with nothing more than fluid and tire changes. Car never gets hot even on 100 degree days.
Details on the parts and build: Car was built as a shop car (Valencia Auto Body) to run Time Attack and DE. As such, he paint job is pretty good, lthough still a race car paint job with typical track pitting and wear. It is Porsche Riviera Blue with Red Wheels (Bengal Red from Embee Powder Coating). I have a clean Ca title although the car isn’t registered, or can it be in it’s current state. Car is well balanced and easy to drive fast, reat car for getting started and learning to drive, r just tracking frequently. It provides a completely analog driving experience with no ABS, ower brakes or steering.
Body:
98 M3 Chassis, clean title and no structural damage that I can tell. Porsche Riviera Blue Paint with Red wheels. The sunroof has been filled and smoothed, oor handles removed and cleanly filled. Car has a widebody kit front and rear. Seibon front fenders and steel rear fenders. Seibon custom fg hood as well as a fg rear deck lid. Doors are stock steel, utted. Overall the car looks good with typical track wear and tear with the exception of the right rear quarter. Previous owner had wheel contact so there’s some superficial damage to the paint and rear quarter. Nothing structural and probably $500 if you want it perfect. Most of the skirts and trim pieces need new plastic connectors as well. Aero consists of a BW wing, frame mounted on custom uprights. Splitter and dive planes are alumalite, ot super fancy but perfectly functional and super durable. Also has an aluminum rear diffuser as well as tow points front and rear. Rear quarter windows are Lexan and it has a recently new windshield.
Drivetrain:
Car is fitted with an S38 engine (from an E34 M5). Currently running a Turner chip at 300rwhp and gobs of torque, therwise all stock internals. I cherry picked this virgin S38 from a 56k mile street car, t is immaculate and runs on 91 pump. Also has the E34 oil cooler up front. Transmission is a Getrag 265 5 speed which comes from an E30 M3, nd is shifted by the magical CAE shifter. Shifts smooth with no issues although you do need to double clutch it if you ever shift to 5th gear. Custom driveshaft and trans mounts as well as a fresh throw out bearing and 6 puck clutch. BMW LSD diff with 4.27 gearing. Car has custom headers and 3” straight pipe with a glass pack. I also have a turn out exhaust with Magnaflow muffler and Suppertrapp tip I can include. Engine is cooled by an Ireland Engineering aluminum radiator and electric fan.
Chassis:
Full custom gusseted roll cage and door bars, elds aren’t the prettiest but the cage is well built and stout. Front shock towers are seam welded and it has a custom tubular front bulkhead/radiator support. Overall chassis is straight and true, no tracking or alignment issues at all.
Suspension is fresh 8-10 days ago including all bushings, all joints, heel bearings, tc. New Bimmer World front control arms ($900), reehouse fcabs, urner rear arms, round Control trailing arm bushings, tc. Car is on single adjustable Ground Control Race Version dampers with Ground Control camber caster plates. This is probably the only thing I would do to the car, pgrade to double adjustable set up. Currently running Eibach 550/650 springs and adjustable front and rear sway bars, et up perfectly for NT01’s. As it sits the car is at 2650 pounds.
Brakes and wheels:
Stop Tech Trophy brakes, T40 front and rear with 355mm rotors and Porterfield st43 pads (have spare pads but they last forever). No ABS or power brakes. Custom Tilton pedal box for clutch and brake, op mounted with remote reservoirs and in cabin brake bias adjustment. Stainless lines all around and Motul RBF600 fluid.
Wheels are Apex Arc 8 17x10x25 square. New extended wheel studs. Car will come with two sets of identical wheels. One set has half worn NT01’s 275/40 and another set with half worn Toyo RR 275/40. I will also include a brand new set of Toyo RRs with the purchase.
Interior/safety:
Cobra Sebring Pro Hans Halo seat, ood till 1/19 and Schroth hans harness also good till 1/19 (passenger seat not included). VAC floor mounts and Sparco seat mounts with a Sparco steering wheel. Has a Summit single gauge/tach and an LED shift light. Also has Longacre rear view mirror and an I/O Port window net.
I am sure I am missing plenty of other details so serious buyers feel free to ask any additional questions. Car is located in South Orange County and ready to go to its new owner.
