Description |
---|
This is a 1981 BMW 528i with the factory installed Getrag 265 Overdrive 5 Speed Transmission.
This car is also equipped with a factory Sideloader LSD with 3.45 gear ratio.
The car shows very little signs of rust but we failed to take photos while it was on the lift.
Unfortunately this car was rear ended sometime in it's previous life and was repaired with Bondo.
The accident also created the famous BMW scrunch visible at the rear door gap.
This car is being marketed more as a Drivetrain Donor for an E3, E9, E12, or E24 build.
However, anyone aspiring to restore this car can do so easily with today's frame pull technology.
I can provide any necessary sheetmetal that would be required to properly repair the rear section as well.
The interior is very presentable with no rips or tears on the Butterscotch colored leather seats.
The dash does have the normal cracking that is typical of Southern California sun exposure.
The sunroof works as designed and the headliner is in excellent shape.
There are a couple of issues with door handles and power locks not working properly.
The car runs and drives but the engine is suffering from a blown head gasket. There is water evident in the oil.
This car can be driven on a partially closed local section of a 55 mph highway for test purposes.
All drivetrain functions performed flawlessly when tested so this is a very good donor candidate.
I can assist with trailer transport of this vehicle to most areas local to Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.
