But don't be fooled. this is better than what was in the past. The Chevelle is now a legendary name in the classic muscle car community. and this is where it all started. 1964 was the first year Chevrolet produced a car to fill the void between their full size and compact models. Not all of these new intermediates were created equal. so the Chevelle was split into the base 300 Series. and the up-market Malibu trim. Noticing the extra chrome in places like the lower rocker area. and in the rear can identify Chevelle Malibus like this one. Plus. the Malibu name written on the side is an easy indicator. too. as long as the badging survives like it has here. The chrome ring and hub covers on the 14-inch wheels are also a nice standout. But by far the best feature on the outside of the car is the paint. The two-tone is close to the original factory Lagoon Aqua and Ermine White. except now it has been given a much nicer. and deeper metallic finish. Starting to get the picture on this car? There have been some painstaking efforts to keep this Malibu looking original. but at the same time. it has a few tweaks to give it some added flash for the classic car world. Inside. the Medium Metallic Aqua seats were a must to keep this car looking accurate. Despite Chevrolet's legendary long options list. this was the only vinyl seat color option designated for this paint scheme. The front bench seat is something that would have been replaced on a restomod. but that wouldn't be right on this one. Instead. it is a near perfect time machine going back to the days when the entire family would have rather sat in the front than had the open road obscured from the back seat. Just like any good 1960's car. this sea of blue is given plenty of nice chrome touches on places like the door panels. dash. and steering wheel. All of this feels very original right down to the heater controls. Underneath the hood is Chevrolet's trusty 350 cubic-inch V8. Chevelle fans everywhere are now doing a double take because they know this famous motor wasn't an option in 1964. Well. it's one of those extra upgrades that gives this honest car a bit more style in the modern classic car world. Even the Chevelle SS did not get anything larger than a 327 cubic-inch engine in 1964. and so this Malibu is paying tribute to its younger. speedier siblings with the larger motor. This extra power helps make this Malibu a real cruiser. The power steering. three-speed automatic transmission. and Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS tires (classic look with a modern construction) finish off a package that makes this coupe nice for road trips.
