Description

Two Lane Blacktop

This is not the original movie car built by Richard Ruth, or is it intended to be portrayed as the original! It might be the best clone ever made, ut only Richard Ruth can build the perfect Two Lane Blacktop car. I have paid attention to every detail.

“When I set out to build this clone, first contacted Richard Ruth. I spent several hours at his shop talking Two Lane Blacktop details. After meeting with Richard, knew for me to do justice to his Two Lane Blacktop, nbsp;I had to find and use all original partsin order tobuild it exactly like the original. I had to have the same tunnel ram, he same pre 70’s American Daisies, ame olds rear-end, -22 etc.” I have a side by side comparison below.

This was a complete frame off rotisserie restoration. This 55 started out with very little rust, ll the floors are original with NO rust. I replaced the rear tail pan "the last 10 inches of the trunk area", nd that was the only rusted area. I undercoated the entire under side. The frameis powder coated.

This is what you get!

Technical details provided by Richard Ruth.

Richard Ruth the original Two Lane Blacktop car builder, nbsp;was/is an innovator in car building. Richard put four wheel disc brakes on the car in 1971; he built his own coil over front end, ay ahead of his time. He removed the front body mounts, utout the rear window package tray, emoved the divider between trunk and back seat area, sed all Plexiglas windows except for the windshield, iberglass front clip, iberglass doors and trunk, nbsp;all for the purpose of building a race car as light as possible. He succeeded in building the most Iconic 1955 Chevy of all time. It was later used in the movie American Graffiti, owever I believe they ruined it by replacing the iconic Mail box hood scoop with a run of the mill scoop, lapping on a front bumper, ollup windows, ench seat and painted it black. Clearly no longer the badass primer gray two lane!! it lost a lot in translation! (my opinion)
