1957 Chevrolet 3100 short box Napco 4x4 dry western survivor truck barn find NR

For sale at NO RESERVE: 1957 Chevrolet 3100 short box NAPCO 4x4 barn find ranch truck with nice patina. The 57 SWB, ike the Tim Allen truck, s the most sought after of the Task Force trucks. These trucks are the stuff of legend - take a look at this 1957 GM promotional film seen here:

This truck spent it's life in the high desert of Montana, and of the sagebrush and prickly pear cactus. It's had a typical western life of hauling fence posts, eeding cows, nd hunting & fishing. The same ranching family owned from nearly new till I purchased it. Numbers match on cab and frame, till has all 5 original wheels, nd original keys. 1957 Montana license plate shown is included. It's a running, riving project and would make a good foundation for a restoration, r do some sorting and enjoy as is. I'll do my best to describe it below.
Exterior: Loaded with the patina that everyone is looking for. No effort has been made to buff or clear coat, t's the real deal. Plenty of dents as shown, ut little rust. In this arid land, e only get 10 inches of total moisture per year, nd sand, ot salt, s used on the roads. We just don't see major rot here. Minor rust in fender bottoms and cab as shown, est of what you see is surface rust. Floors look good. Chrome is very good with zero pitting. There are a few extra holes drilled in the back of the cab. Wood box floor and straps need replacement, ortunately that's all available from LMC and other vendors.
Interior: Original and functional. Gauges work and so does speedometer. Heater is non-op, adio is missing. Headlights work but will need work on turn signals and brake lights. Original seat will need complete re-do. Driver side window regulator needs work, ou have to help window up and down.
Mechanical: Starts, uns, nd drives. In typical ranch fashion, hen the original 235 Thriftmaster got tired, t was upgraded to later 250 that they had on hand. It runs good with no noises or smoke. Does have a leaking valve cover gasket. I don't have the original engine. NAPCO branded front differential and transfer case as shown. Engine cross member was modified for the later 6, ut original riveted t-case cross member appears unaltered. As expected, ruck was sitting a while so I took it to a pro mechanic and spent $500 having it checked over and serviced, nd a leaking T-case seal replaced. Fuel tank has been replaced with a later tank, riginal straps are included with truck. Between mechanic and I, e drove the truck about 25 miles. It has a later alternator, nd does charge, ut it has a slight draw and if left unattended for long periods battery will drain. I will install a cutout knob on the battery post for now. Does need the driver side front diff knuckle wiper seal, t leaks and will leave a spot on the floor. LT235/85 (7.50-16) radial tires are winter traction type and have decent tread and no cracks.

Misc: You are welcome and encouraged to personally inspect the truckprior to bidding.I'm not a dealer, don't do this for a living, 'm an enthusiast. While the truck runs, t's not a good plan to fly in and drive it home since it's an old truck, nd stuff happens. Cell service is poor in Montana and it's a long way between towns. Montana title isclear with no liens. After the sale, can store the truck outside for up to 30 days free, fter that $100 per month storage will be due. Buyer needs to get insurance as soon as truck is paid for as I will cancel mine at that time.
