Description

For sale at NO RESERVE: 1958 Chevrolet 3600 NAPCO 4x4 barn find ranch truck with great patina. It's got the Hulk Smash 4x4 look that everyone wants - not lifted, one stock. A time capsule from back in the day - when men were men and trucks were for working, ot posing. If you can't get it done with this truck, t probably doesn't need doing! The Napco 4x4s, like the Tim Allen truck, re the most sought after of the Task Force trucks. These rigs are the stuff of legend - take a look at this GM promotional film seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5LYTkRjdno
This truck spent it's life in the high desert of Montana, and of the sagebrush and prickly pear cactus. It's had a typical western life of hauling fence posts, eeding cows, nd hunting & fishing. The same ranching family owned from nearly new till I purchased it. Numbers match on cab and frame, till has all 4 original 17.5 wheels, riginal key, riginal floor mat, nd original wood bed in decent condition. Even original radio works! 1958 Montana license plate shown is included. It's a running, riving project and would make a good foundation for a restoration, r do some sorting and enjoy as is. I'll do my best to describe it below.
Exterior: Loaded with the patina that everyone is looking for. No effort has been made to buff or clear coat, t's the real deal. Plenty of dents as shown, ut little rust. In this arid land, e only get 10 inches of total moisture per year, nd sand, ot salt, s used on the roads. We just don't see major rot here. Minor surface rust on exterior as shown in pics. See additional pics in linked album. Floors look good with only surface rust apparent under original mat. Chrome is very good with zero pitting. Original wood box floor is in decent condition. Hood springs are missing, inges are there and look okay, ate latches have been installed on top of hood in typical "western" fashion.
Interior: Original and functional. Gauges work, ut not speedometer. Heater blows, ne control cable stuck. Headlights work but will need work on turn signals and brake lights. Original seat was re-upholstered in naugahyde, eeping with the truck's ranch origins. Original radio still works and so does spot light!
Mechanical: Starts, uns, nd drives. I think it's the original Thriftmaster 235. It runs good with no major noises or leaks. Does use some oil. NAPCO branded front differential and transfer case as shown. Original riveted t-case cross member appears unaltered. As expected, ruck was sitting a while so I took it to a pro mechanic and spent $800 having it checked over and serviced, arb rebuilt, uel pump replaced, ank flushed, tc. Between mechanic and I, e drove the truck about 25 miles. 4x4 works in high and low range, ransfer case whines a bit, ore than some of the other Napco trucks I've owned. Does need the driver side front diff knuckle wiper seal, t leaks and will leave a spot on the floor. 9.00-16 traction tires shown (good tread with some weather cracks) will be on the truck and all 4 original 17.5 wheels will be included ($1000 value). Truck is not lifted, t's bone stock. These period correct 9.00-16 tires are 35" tall. If you like the look, hey are currently available from Simple Tire for $170 each, had to replace one. It's an old truck, o plan on doing some work and sorting before it's ready to use.

Misc: You are welcome and encouraged to personally inspect the truckprior to bidding.I'm not a dealer, don't do this for a living, 'm an enthusiast. If you'd like any detailed photos of a specific area of the truck, ust ask! I have many photos of it but will be glad to take more if needed. Please ask any questions you like before bidding. You will be answered quickly and honestly.Transport isreadily availableandprobably cheaper than fixingmajorroton a Midwest or East Coast tetanus truck. While the truck runs, t's not a good plan to fly in and drive it home since it's an old truck, nd stuff happens. Cell service is poor in Montana and it's a long way between towns. Montana title isclear and in my name with no liens. After the sale, can store the truck outside for up to 30 days free, fter that $100 per month storage will be due. Buyer needs to get insurance as soon as truck is paid for as I will cancel mine at that time.
