Hello and thanks for looking. I bought this car with a friend from an estate sale and the intention was for my friend to rebuild it. Things change and he can't do that now and I already have a race car (SCCA GT1, NASA SU/TTU) so I don't need this one.
I listed this as a 1981 Corvette but I have no idea exactly what year the frame is from. I've been told it is a C3 frame and it is a C4 race body.
Original owner had it built and it first ran in '91. Built by a northeastern circle-track shop, they took a C3 frame and reinforced it and hung a C4 race body on it. Pushed the SBC back (~53% on rear according to setup sheets), running a 4speed (muncie I think) with the C3 IRS. Really interesting front suspension setup. Original owner was elderly and stopped running it and then as his health failed, a buddy of his sold it to me from the estate. It ran in the DC region SCCA starting in 91 and last raced in the early 2000s as far as I can tell. I have a generic "BSR RACING LOGBOOK" with notes and pages and I'm searching for an SCCA logbook. Don't count on getting the SCCA one, but if I can get it, I'm happy to supply it.
PROJECT = This means it needs work. It has been sitting, for years. There is a hole in the block, headers are toast, there is no battery, no carb, no air cleaner, no distributor, everything will need to be checked over. Some dzus fasteners are missing, etc etc. Fuel pumps might work fine, might both be toast, etc etc. PROJECT CAR!!!!!
This is an AS-RACED car, so the body is not perfect, etc etc.
I've removed the seat (it was a home-made one) to show how much room there is.
Body seems to be an ACP body:http://www.acproducts.us/images/C4Corvette.jpg and from what I can gather the front mono-spring was an ACP design as well.
Spares: None. WYSIWYG. (if the buyer wants to stay SBC, I may have some parts to sell as extras)
WARRANTY = NONE.
THERE IS NO TITLE.
Car will be sold with a bill-of-sale containing a statement that there is no warranty and racing is dangerous and the seller assumes absolutely no liability. THERE IS NO TITLE.
Happy to answer any questions that I can. If you need an additional picture, let me know.
Car is located in Bryan, TX (about an hour north of Houston) and I can show it to potential buyers should our schedules work out. Car is for sale local, so I may end this auction at any time.
Since it is the car alone, it could be shipped assuming the shipper can deal with non-running cars. It pushes pretty easy. Being a race car it is low to the ground, so plan accordingly for ramps.
