This all original truck was used in Arkansas on one farm from new, 963 until it was sold at an estate sale. It had a stake bed on the frame and had been used to haul Hay locally. The original drivetrain is a 318 V-8 that runs great with a 4 spd transmission that shifts without fail and a two spd rearend. The two speed rear in low just turns the truck in a pasture creeper. So using the rearend in high just allows the truck to drive as normal.
My guess is the rear gear is probably a 4 series and highway speed in this original condition is probably 55 mph.
The gentleman that bought the truck removed the stake bed and installed a car hauler bed. The hauler bed is rust free and was simply bolted onto the frame.
I bought the Dodge in the fall of 2014 and had a friend of mine truck it up from Arkansas to the "American Gasser" shop in my home town, aginaw, I. We have been restoring an original 51 Chevy Gasser for over a year at the shop.
Things have changed for me and although I sold two of my project cars, have now acquired one more. So, have decided to list this truck and give up the idea of using this truck to haul my gasser to the track.Vehicle is sold as-is with no warranty implied or stated.
