1957 FORD THUNDERBIRD
This Thunderbird was sold new at Francis Ford in downtown Portland, regon. The second Portland owner bought this 2 years later in 1959, nd keptit 57 years until now. This is a one top, ard top only car. The T-bird was rarely used in the last 35 years. It hasbeen garaged most of its life. The floor pans and rockers are excellent with no undercoating. It retains its original window sticker and Town & Country radio manuals. Includes original Oregon registration from 1960. It has a manual transmission with overdrive. Less than 4 percent ofthese Thunderbirds were standard transmission.
The paint is old and marginal. Lots of touchup and some spot painting. It has never been in an accident. The stainless is remarkable. The chrome is amazing for 59 years old. Very few cars, f any make, ave original chrome this nice. Almost unheard of, he chrome has no pitting. It retains its original hubcaps and factory lifeguard sticker in the drivers door.
The interior survived very well. It has its original seat in excellent condition. The dash is remarkably well preserved. The door and kick panels are good except around the drivers door window crank, hich has a tear. The carpets were replaced before 1980. The lights, aillights, linkers, ack up lights, orn, indshield wipers, eater blower motor, actory tachometer and gauges work. The Town & Country radio doesn't come on. The headliner in the hardtop is beautiful.
This is a matching numbers motor. It has never been out of the car. It is remarkably powerful. The 3 speed transmission shifts nicely and the optional overdrive works well. The suspension is smooth and works well at 60 mph. The radial tires are over 35 years old but are not cracked and run smooth. It has the original air cleaner decal and window washer bag.
The factory trunk carpet is still in good condition. Has original jacking instructions on the underside of trunk lid. The spare is original. All the jack parts are there in excellent condition. Has original owners manual, rochure, 960 registration in Oregon, indow sticker, adio manuals, usiness card and date when purchased used in 1959 and several old Thunderbird manuals.
Imagine keeping a car for 57 years. That's a long damn time. The new buyer will be the third owner fromnew.
