Engine is sound. Rebuilt professionally several years ago and only a few thousand miles on it since then, f that. New Ross Racing Pistons, ings etc., s described on the forum. Has electronic ignition as shown in photos. Fifth gear is non-operational. I have been told that the gear has stripped its splines and turns freely on the shaft. However, he car includes a second 5 speed that I bought many years ago for this reason but have never installed. I have tested it to the extent of turning the main shaft by hand with a wrench and engaging all the gears. It turned freely without any “skips.”
Oil cooler replaced, ater pump good. A/C radial compressor. Dash and headliner are perfect, ut covering on pillars is shot. Driver’s seat broke years ago and has been repaired securely by brazing. I never put it back in because the leather upholstery is shot and a decision is needed on replacing it with something. Passenger seat is temporarily replacing the driver’s seat.
Tires are as good as new, irelli P4000 205/70, “V” series tire good for sustained speeds in excess of 130 mph. Car is reasonably functional and in decent shape overall with relatively minor faults. I had to do substantial re-wiring due to severe corrosion within the copper wiring under the insulation. It all works though some items have never worked or have failed completely, ike the dash light dimmer and the dash clock. Passenger window gear was replaced with metal one. I have the original radio which worked when removed plus a modern replacement that also works. I have all the aerial parts and even the electrics that originally controlled the aerial. I have kept many of the parts that failed and were replaced, hat might be of use to a rebuilder. On Jun-15-15 at 10:52:40 PDT, eller added the following information:
An entirely California Car - no body rust, icensed and registered in California but in “non-operational” status, asily converted to operational. I’ve owned the car since the early 80's and have most of the receipts as well as repair manual and owner’s manual, ll included. A factory certified French mechanic did a lot of the early work on this car, ut not to my liking. I am selling the car because I am now a senior citizen and simply lack the desire and time to do the mechanical and maintenance work on the car. An excellent Yahoo group is devoted specifically to this car - “Sport-Maserati-L.” This is a 3 liter engine though the car is 1972. The Citroen former dealer I bought it through - Don Runnal in Santa Monice, A - told me the engine was changed out to a 1973 3 liter.
