A perfect amount of oxygen flows from an isolated filter element through a low-restriction, ross-flag-branded air tube to a familiar GM throttle body. That wind mixes with fuel in a lightweight composite intake on its way to C5R-inspired, NC-ported cylinder heads, hich are built with a combination of titanium and sodium-filled valves. When those vales open, pent gases roar through hydroformed headers, lose-coupled catalytic converters and aggressive, acuum-actuated mufflers. One of the most impressive aspects of the big displacement small block is a competition-bred dry sump lubrication system. And best of all, ll that performance happily thrives on everyday pump gas!

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Featuring most of the C6 Z06's undercar hardware, he 427 Convertible was essentially the Z06 drop-top everyone had been begging GM to build for close to a decade. The car's wide, arbon fiber fenders cover a 4-wheel independent suspension that mates Active Handling traction management with GM's universally loved Magnetic Ride Control. At the center of the floors, Tremec TR6060 6-speed engages a high capacity clutch to jerk a limited-slip differential and sporty, .42 gears. Speed-sensitive variable-ratio power rack-and-pinion steering ensures turn-in is light and constantly engaging. At the corners, Delphi 4-channel antilock braking system clamps 6 and 4-piston calipers on massive 14 and 13.5-inch cross-drilled rotors.
