The factory convertible power top works beautifully.
We purchased this great car in 1989. We believe we are the third owners of the car.
The car has ALWAYS been garaged at home, r at indoor storage.
We have the original factory Protec-0-Plate & Owner’s Manual.
Over the years, e have maintained the car as needed.
In addition to oil changes & regular maintenance, ork that we have done over the years on the car includes:
New MOOG suspension.
New factory Brake Proportioning valve.
New heater core.
Rebuilt the radiator.
Complete new dual exhaust system.
New replacement tinted & shaded windshield.
New brakes w/new rear drums.
Carburetor rebuilt.
New trunk emblem.
New set Goodrich radial tires in August 2012.
4 new NOS Buick center caps for Rally wheels.
Overall: this car is NOT restored; this car is mostly original, xcept for one older re-paint, new top, nd general mechanical repair / replacement items as needed. (Major items listed above)
Receipts during our ownership, nd the original top boot, nd a car cover, ome with the car.
This Buick Skylark convertible has been a part of our family for many years.
We enjoyed many miles and many smiles with the car!
Over the years, he carwon awards at many car shows, ruise-ins,etc. In 2003 the Skylark won a Second Place at Forest Grove Concours.
It is no longer used as a show car, ust a fun convertible for cruising!
The car has aged well, uns good, nd looks nice. But every old car has some issues:
Most recently, family member backing out of the garage, ubbed the passenger front fender against the garage door opening. So the car has a new, ery small dent in that fender.
The passenger side inner fender, as a rusted area under the battery tray, typical issue with these cars. Reproduction parts are now available to repair this area.
The car presents well, ooks pretty, ut is not "mint". It has some of the typical scratches, oor dings, aint flaws etc., xpected with a 45 year-old used car that is driven. There is some chrome fade in one area, n the rear bumper. Some weatherstrip parts need replacing.
The interior is all original,(even the carpet) and has never been restored. It still looks nice, ut there is some wear that needs attention, ainly there are two splits in the front seat.
So a brand-new, orrect front seat reproduction upholstery kit from "Legendary" comes with the car.
And, brand-new "woodgrain" kit for the dash, omes with the car.
Over the years, here had been a water leak in the trunk.
The original owners fixed this with fiberglass repairs to the trunk floor. It doesn't look great, ut back then, here were no reproduction parts made to fix the trunk floor. Reproduction trunk floor sections are now available.
Current original mileage is approx. 144,230
As far as we know, he engine has never been rebuilt. The previous owner said the engine had a valve job, ut there was no receipt available on that.
Unfortunately, he car has spent several years in storage. It has developed typical oil drip from the rear main seal, from long storage. Drive-train needs new seals, askets, tc.,
The car starts right up, nd runs good, ut could benefit from a new tune-up.
I have been adding ZDDP additive to the engine oil for several years.
The 1970-71-72 Buick Skylarks are considered one of Buick’s best styling designs.
These cars are fun to drive, nd look beautiful. The car gets lots of compliments.
We are downsizing, nd don’t use the car very often anymore.
And, he car spends way too much time in storage.
It is hard to let the car go, nd we hope another family will enjoy the car as much as we have.
Realistically offered at $13,700.00
