Fiat Spider 2000

1979 Spider with only 54,342 original miles.
I bought it six years ago from the son of a man that had garage stored here in So. CA it for many years. Since I purchased it I have only put an additional 18,000 miles on the car. I kept it in my office underground garage and used it for fun and running errands. Always surface streets, no freeway miles and no road trips.
It's a fun car to drive even with the automatic transmission. Cruising up and down the coast to my office was great!
I am very reluctant to part with it but I need to generate some fast cash for a family emergency.
Also, I have rarely driven the car the last few years so I wanted to see it go to another driver who would love it.
It has always been serviced by Reliable Motors in Costa Mesa. Cornell specializes in Fiats only and is an excellent resource. When I originally purchased the car since it had been garaged for years I had it towed to him and he went through it and repaired or replaced everything that needed attention to the tune of over $2000 in repairs. I have since had it serviced regularly by him. Most recently he replaced the convertible top with a factory OEM canvas top, ot one of the cheap plastic tops. He is a firm believer as I am in keeping everything on the car OEM. He also completely tuned the engine, eplaced the brake master cylinder and many other little things for another $1800. Since I have owned the car I have put about $4000 into it for general upkeep. I have all the service receipts for you. To my knowledge and as indicated on the car it has never been in an accident of any kind.
The car runs great. Unfortunately, just don't drive it much any more due to my bad knees and difficulty climbing in and out of the car. It's been sitting now for a few years with an occasional startup. It needs to go to someone who can appreciate it.
I've been asked to submit more pictures so I have done so. Both sides close up, ear, pen trunk and engine. Keep in mind that I have not washed or detailed the car before taking these photos. It's about to rain here so a wash and detailing will have to wait. There are a few rust spots on the trunk lid as I mentioned before. Today I noticed that a few of them have rusted through so they are not just surface rust. I have set the keys next to those spots in the photos so you can see the size. I'm sure that's an easy patch and paint. If I was keeping the car I would probably replace the rear trunk lid entirely because I don't like the aftermarket luggage rack the previous owner installed. It's never been an issue so I have left it alone.
The dash is original and has no cracks and I always keep it covered with a white towel. The seats and interior trim are still in great shape. The paint looks great from about six feet away but it is getting time for a repaint or at least a good detailing. The rear trunk lid has some surface rust (see picture for the worst area). Right now since it has been sitting it's in need of a wash and good detailing.
To my knowledge the car has always been a California car with very minimal surface rust only.
The battery is dead and I have not started the car for about a year. It also needs a smog and new license tags which expired in 2013. If you are local I would suggest that you have it towed down to

Someone is going to get a great 1979 Fiat with low mileage at a reasonable price. My loss but I need to sell.
I prefer to sell it locally (It's a perfect CA car and always got attention when I drove it) but can arrange shipping at your expense. Obviously the car is being sold as-is with no warranty.
