1970 Plymouth Road Runner (RM23N0G136xxx) factory 383c.i. car, actory 4-speed car, ender tag, lack interior with silver lining, oad Runner trunk lid stripe, lack hood treatment, ual exhaust with correct chrome tips, ower steering, ew 15” chrome torque thrust ll type wheels and new BFG T/A radial tires. The Road Runner just had a recent light restoration from front to back including the restored show condition engine bay, any of the interior items, iring, inor paint work, et sand and buffed entire car, heels and tires, ull exhaust, ash cluster and much more! This fine Road Runner is an excellent all purpose car for shows, ruises and cruising! Although not a 100 point concourse car… it will certainly garner respect and hold it’s own at any show. There were 20,216 Road Runner hardtops (RM23N) built in 1970 with a 383 4-bbl and of those 7,993 were 4-speeds.
I typically restore or finish around 10 Mopars a year and have been working on them for more than 25 years and I do everyone as they were my own to keep. I put a lot of time, ffort, ride and money in the cars that I offer for sale which is evident when viewing one of my cars compared to others for sale. This is one of the few cars you can view in person and say that it is actually nicer than the photos. Please call Chad at 412- 496- 1439 with any questions. Thanks!FOR ADDITIONAL PHOTOS VIEW ON SHUTTERLY AT: 1970roadrunnerblack.shutterfly.com/pictures/8 PAINT, ODY AND FRAME The body is very straight and in excellent shape. All of the Road Runner’s body numbers match on the radiator support, runk lip, ender tag, riginal door vin decal and the VIN tag authenticating that it is a REAL Road Runner. The Road Runner was a factory Ivy Green (EF8) car and changed to black several years ago. The Road Runner has had just the rear lower sections of the quarters, runk floor and the very forward sections of the floor pans installed several years ago. The rear floor boards, oors, enders, oof and trunk lid are all in great shape. The frame is in excellent shape and the undercarriage is clean and neat with no rust. The body paint was done over 10 years ago and still looks excellent! There are only a few very small flaws in the paint. The very lower bottom edge on the front RH fender has 3 lines/cracks in the paint each about an inch long and the left lower corner just beneath the rear window chrome trim piece has a small blister the size of a pencil eraser. Both have been there for years and are not an issue. The bottoms of the quarters, heel well lips, oors and trunk lip are very nice and clean and not full of filler like most! You can see the perfect factory seams the way it should be. Even the factory drain plugs in the trunk extensions are perfect. The door latches and door strikers were cleaned and polished the way they should be and the doors close with the ease of your finger. The super high-gloss paint was just professionally wet sanded by hand with 1500 and 2000 grit paper to achieve a high caliber ultra finish. This long process alone took over 50 hours and the finish shows it! I would say the paint is a strong 8.5 out of 10. I am also very picky and critical, s well as honest.
GLASS, HROME AND TRIM The glass is in good condition overall but does have a few scratches. The front windshield is pretty nice but does have the common wiper scratches. The original side glass, uarter glass and rear window also have a few minor marks but nothing that would make me change the glass. All windows operate and line-up excellent. The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed. The door handles and door lock cylinders are new. The mirrors and inside door handles are in nice condition but not perfect chrome. The window trim is clean and was polished for optimum shine. INTERIOR The black interior is in excellent shape and has a new headliner, eadliner insulation, runk divider, peaker shelf, ear sail panels and newer carpet installed. All factory gauges work and operate correctly. The complete gauge cluster was restored with new gauges, ircuit board and gauge faces. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, ome light, everse lights, ail lights, arking lights, urn signals, our-way flashers and license plate light. As typical the factory clock does not work. The factory AM radio also is not operating but I did install a new factory correct antenna kit. DRIVE TRAIN The Road Runner is a factory 383 car but the current 383 (1967) engine is not the original one. It is excellent driving car that makes good power, uns great and has that awesome big block Mopar sound. The 383 has had a mild rebuild several years ago. We removed the intake and did a check on the top end and everything looked cleaned and in great shape. We installed all new gaskets, arb, istributor, oses, elts, lugs, lectronic box, P factory manifolds, lternator, iring, attery and restored air cleaner and wiper motor. The 383 is a 1967 motor with a casting date of 8-31-66 and the ID badge is C383 which designates it as a 1967 engine. The Road Runner has excellent drivability and cools well even in stop and go traffic. The factory Mopar 4-speed transmission shifts great and has good power through all the gears. The clutch feels great and is the original 3 finger style pressure plate so it does have a slightly heavier feel to it. The rear-end is an 8 3/4 with 3.23 gears and a 489 case number. The brand new 2 ½” dual exhaust is awesome and done by one of the best in the business! It is welded at all seams with perfect fit and has the correct chrome tips, angers and flowmaster style mufflers and it sounds excellent! This excellent drive train combo runs excellent and drives awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving. NEW/NEWER ITEMS ON CAR
