Please only bid if you know what you are buying and are familiar with Land Rovers!
History of vehicle: I have owned this truck for 2 years. I bought it from a guy in Virginia who imported it from Germany and had engine rebuilt. It needed work but I was able to pick it up and drive it over 2700 miles in 4 days. Since then most everything upgraded mechanically. Most of it's life was spent in England. Now it resides in California where it is registered and titled. Rebuilt Engine has 19565 miles. Work was done in England and I have all the paperwork andreceipts.
Pro: this is a rare vehicle, nd even rarer to beregisteredin California. It's in great shape for it's age and turns heads when driven down the street. There aren't many of these in the United States, nd as time goes on they will continue to be good investments (especially since 2015 marks the last year the Defender will be sold and produced worldwide). These cars are known for their endurance and reliability. Top Gear reports that 70% of ever Defender manufactured since 1948 is still running today. These are great hobby vehicles--you can fix almost anything on them yourself and custom build them to whatever you want. If you know Land Rover and Defenders, ou know their quality.
Cons: Not too fast going up hill but gets you there. Average Highway speed 65 no problem. If I were to keep it I wouldconsider upgrading to a 300 TDi. The steering is really stiff and takes some getting used to since it slides all over the road at times. You can loosen it but I like a stiff drive on it.
Great car for someone willing to finish the cosmetic upgrade to it. Rough rack is great for long trips with. We've taken it camping toYosemite,Mammoth and Pinnacles. Load it up and it still runs great.
Please feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.
