1977 CJ7 (somewhat). Chevy 350 sitting on massive engine mounts with a mild cam, delbrock carb on aluminum Edelbrock intake, nd aluminum radiator. Muncie SM465 cast iron 4 speed trans with the granny low backed by the unsurpassed NP205the king of transfer cases with a very well done twin stick conversion saddled on a massive crossmember... all adds up to a bullet proofdrive train. Headman headers with Cherry Bomb glass packs dumped out the side, uick release steering wheel, oroso push button start, lex-a-Lite Mojave heater for the cabin and branched to the defroster, tock Dana 30 front axle, MC 20 rear, russed and stitchwelded axle tubes, olid G2 axle shafts and a disc brake conversion. The axle has 6 degree shims it could use another two degrees but that's another project. Lots of people talk trash about the AMC 20 but it's got a larger ring gear and pinion shaft than even the Ford 9". I've been very happy with it after the G2 axleconversion. Custom rear drive shaft. Six point roll cage bolted through the body to the frame. Alpinestereowith Polk outdoor waterproof speakers. Sold frame, iberglass body with a fiberglass tilt front end. If you've ever had a fiberglass tub stock tops and doors don't fit as well as they do on steel tubs.... Mostrecentlya newalternator, ower steering pump, lectric choke, nd steering shaft coupler.... etc. It'll always be an ongoing project and never a show car... great new write up on Four Wheeler Network about the SEMA show trucks vs true off road rigs. I've used this jeep frequently as a driver with no unusual problems.
NOTE:When I converted the rear brakes I did so following the CJ blogs usingSuzuki rotors and Nissan calipers. The booster/master cylinder/proportioning valve turned out really well but I'm not satisfied the calipers/rotor match. If I were to keep the rig I'd spend the cash and put on a matched conversion. Buying this jeepconstitutesyour understanding these brakes must be replaced before you put the rig on the road.
NOTE: I had this jeep on ebay a month or so ago but it began to leak coolant out the top rear of the block. I was afraid it was a cracked head and I'm not selling someone garbage so I pulled the ad. Turns out it was the rear coolant passage leaking through the intake manifold gasket. This time I used an Edelbrock intake manifoldgasket set specific to analuminumintake manifold. Problem fixed.
NEXT: If I kept it I'd do awiringharness, 1 steering gear box, uspension seats, nd lockers.
