No finer example of a Ford Galaxie XL500 retired and newly restored 1960's street racer ..
a Ford 1968 428 FE motor 505 hp .457 gears and a Detroit locker, 50 Holley carb, Ansen scatter shield and rebuilt Top loader..
When I purchased the Galaxie in December of 2013 it was a tired but well taken care of 77,000 mile car, ith a recent body restoration but in need of modern day running gear.
So, n November of 2014 we pulled the motor and transmission out of the car, ave the motor to Jeff Lawrence Race Engines of West Hampton Beach Long Island and asked for a rebuild the motor using top of the line parts for street pump gas use with high 400 horse power if possible.
The Motor Dyno'd at 505 horse power at 5800 rpm when completed at Jeff Lawrence racing, also rebuilt the top loader with all new running gear, eplaced the fly whee, tarter and installed a Kevlar custom made performance clutch by Falcon Clutches of Deer Park, horty headers by F.P.A. with a full custom welded exhaust and a electronic ignition.. The suspension was replaced and the rear was replaced by a Spohn Industries 4 link kit built for The Galaxie to hold the rear to the ground. Every part of the car was gone over, leaned, ixed or replaced.. It is now a true show quality restored car with maybe 1000 miles since it was restored..needs nothing..
In December 2015 the car received another make-over, e gave it a brand new 1965 Twilight Turquoise paint job at a cost of almost $10,000.00
