Up for sale this week, anyon State Classics brings to market a ULTRA low mileage, owner, 978 Datsun 280z in a hard to come by color combination. 1978 Was the first year Black Pearl was an option on a Z car or ANY NISSAN PRODUCT! Black was not offered in the JDM (Japanese Direct Market) due to a traditional superstition against black cars and only approx 1,400 total were produced for the US market. Out of those 1,400, ess than half were manual. Out of the approx 700 manual pearl black cars, nly a fraction came with the optional factory 5 speed instead of the standard 4 speed.

This Z is a one owner car bought new in Arizona at West Valley Datsun on October 13th, 978. This car is equipped the way a true enthusiast would prefer with the L28 170hp 2.8l, nline 6 engine. The car has just under 36,000 original miles...That's right only 35,960 ORIGINAL MILES! This thing is still new and barely broken in! Every bit of maintenance has been done to keep this car up to spec and the pile of records show that the previous owner took top notch care of this car. This Z's classic factory code 638 Metallic Black ($90 dealer option) paint is gorgeous and was just fully redone before being buffed and hand waxed. This high dollar paint job was done right with the glass pulled out and high attention to detail and all new door and window seals after. The complete exterior was repainted and carefully cut into the door jams as the oem paint there was near perfect. The body on the car is laser straight! The body shop that did the paint job told me they had not seen a car this old in such good shape that didnt require any body work at all! This car has been taken care of and is not filled with bondo. The car is arrow straight and shows no evidence of being in an accident. This car has been inspected top to bottom and does not show any rust. All the typical areas that are popular rust spots like the dog legs, heel wells and hatch have been inspected and look straight and original with no a single pea sized bubble ANYWHERE! All the lights and indicators work as they should as well.

The car is riding on dealer installed Western Wheels, that really add to the sportiness of this coupe. They are all in great shape as they were restored when the car was painted and wrapped in Goodyear radial tires. The color of the wheels and pinstriping was done at the dealer when the car was purchased. The pinstripes, hile stylistically correct to the car, ave been re-done in vinyl and can be easily removed with no damage to the paint.

The beautiful black interior is very clean and looks amazing! The sport seats hold you in place during spirited driving yet are comfortable enough to take a road trip in. The seats are cleanly complimented by the sporty, river oriented set up throughout. The comfortable seats were in great shape with no tares or ware in the foam. After paint the car received new carpet, pholstery, nd headliner in addition to a dash. The dash was professionally capped as it initially had a crack. With the glass out, he dash was removed so it could be properly recovered and it looks great! The steering wheel, adio, nd everything else is original to the car. Everything works in the car. Lights, auges, adio, eats, indows, ocks, /c blows ice cold, tc. The radio was just professionally rebuilt and is in fact original to the car (hard to find!). The car will also include its original paperwork, ncluding window sticker and keys.

Mechanically, his Datsun is in great condition and runs and drives great. It has very healthy and very quick. Datsun bored out their L26 inline six to up the displacement and created the 2.8l inline six L28. This car boasts 170bhp! The inline 6 makes quite a bit of power and runs very well thanks to a couple updates under the hood. When the car was brought out of storage about a year ago, t was gone through and almost everything that was a wearable or replaceable component was checked, hanged out, r fixed. The car now has new water pump, an clutch, adiator, oses, aster cylinder, lave, uel sending unit, alipers checked/ pads & rotors, gnition switch, tarter, njector cleaning, ires/plug/cap & rotor, egulator, hermostat, attery, rive belts, nd fuel pump. The fuel tank was also flushed, leaned out, nd re-coated on the outside. This car runs exactly like one would expect a 35k mile car to. The 5 speed is a great option as it allows for a far more comfortable ride at higher speeds. It shifts perfectly and is a pleasure to drive.

This car is ready to go! The exterior of this Coupe is stunning in Black Pearl over a fresh Black Vinyl interior and is definitely the rarest color combination for the 280z. This car is an excellent value and is a lot of car for the money, nd with these low miles...you cant go wrong! You will be hard pressed to find another Datsun Z as well documented as this one!
