Fiat 600 D Multipla (1961) Project car
* Good running example of FIAT's iconic minivan
* Charming and spacious Italian classic
* Endearing color combination
* Last registered on the roads in 2008 as evidenced by the label on the window
This Fiat 600 D Multipla rolled out of Fiat’s Mirafiori-factory in Milan in 1961. The car has been driven for many years in the South of Italy. The car was last registered on the roads in 2008 as evidenced by the Italian label on the front window. This charming 1961 Multipla is suited in the lovely combination of Crème and Light Blue paintwork, and appears to have been kept in largely original condition. The car is still very complete equipped with almost all original parts like the door handles, window cranks, lights, bumpers and all of the interior details.
Driving in this little Multipla is an experience in itself. The tiny 767cc motor, which is placed in the back, perks of pleasure when the vehicle is put in motion. Impressive speeds will not be achieved with this car. The top speed is 91.9 km/h and the Multipla accelerates from 0-80 in 43 seconds. But the car is extremely fun to drive! As an unique presence on the road, it is impossible to go along unnoticed.
Devotees who have put their hopes up for a Fiat 600 Multipla will have to search very well because there are only offered a few dozen of these small Italian family cars. The car offered here is equipped with three rows of seats. In addition, the second and third row can be completely folded away to create a flat load floor with the advantage that the car can carry surprisingly large loads.
The base of this car is great for a complete restoration, the engine is still running and the brakes are in working condition. The car simply needs some TLC to bring it in a beautiful condition. Spare parts for this car aren’t expensive and aren’t difficult to find because it shares a lot of components with its Fiat 600 and 500 brother. You can even buy new engine parts, chrome bumpers and other styling elements. A perfect addition to car’s like these are a roof rack or whitewall tires. The car comes with an Italian title and export documents.
In recent years there have been auctioned a few Fiat Multipla’s. In September 2015 an unrestored 600 Multipla from 1966 (without the original engine) was auctioned for a staggering € 26.000,-. At the Bonhams auction in August 2015 a beautifully restored Multipla sold for as much as € 56.500,-! With sufficient attention this Multipla can be a project car that is well worth the money.
If you are looking for a project car then this Fiat 600 Multipla is definitely worth considering. It brings good value, it's fun to drive and it will always bring a smile on your face every time you open your garage door.
