Every Ford GT is a true collectable with the kind of desirability that makes them the hottest new classic going... but not all are created equal. After all, every GT was built in the image of the famous GT40, but this is the only one we've seen that's brave enough to fulfil to its racing heritage. This is the Ford GT everyone wants, but even if you were lucky to get one of the 343 Heritage Edition cars, you've never seen one like this before. The Gulf Oil livery of the iconic world-beating legend is earned on this car unlike any of the others. That's because this GT has been given a $180,000 transformation into a true track car. The first thing most people will focus on when seeing this coupe is the fantastic Heritage Blue with Epic Orange paint that's part of the very limited edition series. Eventually they'll start to pick up on a few race-bred additions such as the rear spoiler and door pulls. And of course, no one will mistake the 18-inch black racing wheels and Michelin slicks for factory pieces. This is purely a race car, and the interior reminds you the moment you open the door. A full professional roll cage, Sparco steering wheel, digital display, fire system, five-point TeamTech race harnesses, and Ultra Shield race seats - these are your upgrades to the car. This is an important distinction, because while the other Ford GTs out there received a full interior meant to imitate the original GT40 race car, this one has been specially outfitted for racing. So this is the one that can actually join its original sibling out on the racetrack. The 5.4-liter 32-valve DOHC supercharged V8 is a true wondrous beast. It combines the robust nature that Ford learned in its latest Shelby Mustangs, and adds fortified components and more blower power. The result is a very versatile and sturdy powerplant that is perfect for track duty with a powerband broad enough that it is near impossible to find a bad gear in the six-speed manual transmission. All of this came from the SVT guys at Ford, and we're willing to bet the performance tune on this motor gets more than the standard 550 horsepower. This track car has been specially prepared to include a full Penske Race Suspension, upgrade to the massive Brembo four-wheel disc brakes, and howling performance exhaust. Basically, this one takes all the strengths of Ford's GT program and eliminates and upgrades anything that is not focused on the racetrack.Bought new in 2006 and then converted for the track, this GT racer has seen very little use. In fact, it was actually in storage and hidden away from the world from 2009 to 2014. So while there is no longer a traditional odometer, the mileage is estimated to be around only 2,500 miles. This car is for someone who wants to pay tribute to a great race history, while also creating a new one at the same time. If that's you, there's only one of these competition-ready GTs available, so call today!
