2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca Special Issue
Ford reintroduced the venerable Mustang Boss 302 in 2011 at the Rolex Historic Races at Laguna Seca. It is hailed as the “quickest, best-handling straight-production Mustang ever… thanks to lighter weight, beefed up chassis and suspension components, computer controlled engine fine tuning and sticky, track grabbing tires. The special Laguna Seca issue of only 750 vehicles in just two vintage color schemes and no rear seats sets apart this incredible version of as one of the most sought after Mustang models.
Blowing away the performance of the legendary 1969 Boss 302 which was rated at 290 horsepower at 5800 rpm, this later model progeny squeezes out 440 horsepower from the 5.0 liter V8 that features improved intake runners, variable camshaft timing, more aggressive engine controls, and precise fuel control. In competitive performance tests, the Boss 302 Laguna Seca proved better braking performance than the Porsche 991, and faster lap speeds than the Aston Martin DBS, Audi R8, Ferrari California, and BMW M3 at Hockenheim.
There are two keys for this car. A regular, black key, and the red key that unleashes all the power of this special Mustang. On the open road, it's best to leave the TracKey at home. The TracKey activates the control module software which, when the ignition is started, adjusts variable cam timing, spark maps, engine braking, fuel control and about 400 other performance parameters to provide a complete race car calibration. The standard key fires up the Boss 302 in "normal" mode, delivering relatively smooth road handling and less of the notable cabin rumble that is present when the TracKey is engaged.
This specimen, Number 140 of 750, has a scant 451 miles on the odometer. It is part of a premium collection of special vehicles, always kept in an air conditioned showroom. It is as perfect as they come and, of course, has full documentation of its short history. The Laguna Seca special edition is one of those instant classic cars that rarely makes it to the marketplace. It is simply the best one that will ever be available. If your idea of fun is a track proven race car with a license plate, then be sure you call us at 7O2-7O6-6OO7 to make an appointment to inspect this pristine specimen.
