*POWERFUL*Silver on Black 2009 Ford Escape XLT 3.0L V6 with Microsoft SYNC

This auction contains a one owner 2009 Ford Escape XLT FWD. 3.0L V6, silver exterior, black interior. My sister bought the car new here in Las Vegas and it has always been here. I am the mechanic of the family and I have maintained it since new, so I am helping her sell it. It has never been in an accident.

The car has been religiously maintained and is more or less perfect, except for the transmission. All specific Ford recommended maintenance has always been done on schedule, including spark plugs and heated PCV replacement. The air filter was always replaced sooner than needed. Mobil 1 Extended Performance has been used in the car since new. Dipstick is brand new clean after every oil change. The engine runs as good as the day it was new.

My sister used the car as a daily driver and was not a racer, so the car has not been ran hard. Garaged since new and there is hardly ever any rain in Las Vegas, let alone any real weather. Nearly all highway miles of basically level terrain.

The car also has a newer battery, drive belt (including secondary power steering belt), and basically brand new $1k Pirelli tires. I know there has been more than this over the years, but this is what I recall. Needless to say the car has been kept essentially identical condition to it was when it was brand new, I believe in maintaining to OEM standards.

One of the coolest features is the Microsoft SYNC system in the car. It does the Bluetooth calling as many cars do. This one also shows the caller ID on the display. However, even more unique, the system also notifies you that you have a text message, and even reads off the text message so you don't have to look at your phone.

Cosmetically the car is obviously not brand new but it is in great shape. As I said, no weather in Vegas. There's a bit of paint peeling off the right corner of the front bumper from a very slight scrape. There is a ding in the left rear door (from kids in my neighborhood!) The rear bumper has a small blemish from the garage door. Just these few small things, the exterior, paint, and plastics are all otherwise exceptional. There is a minor chip on the very bottom of the windshield from a highway pebble. The inside isn't perfect but as close to perfect as you will find, just the fewest smallest spots here and there, including a worn fabric spot on the driver's seat and a few wear marks on the front door handle grabs. However, anything major and you could see it in the photos. Just trying to be as honest as possible.

Dealers sell this car for near $10k, sometimes more. The starting price is low and no reserve as it needs some transmission work:

In the first couple years of the car, it had a TSB about the left halfshaft and seal. There were a few different revisions of the halfshaft and seal as I guess the halfshaft surfaces kept wearing away the seal. Each time the transmission would leak and it would run low of course. The Mercon fluid became dark due to this. I brought it to the dealer's attention more than once. They said the fluid was fine. This however was while the trans was still low mileage and under warranty. Eventually it leaked again after the warranty was up, and I fixed it myself, and it hasn't leaked since.

What seems to have happened was that the fluid burnt due to running low (of course), and the transmission took wear from this when it was low on mileage. Now higher in mileage, it isn't working. It still drives short distances, but it begins slipping the warmer it gets, and eventually won't go much at all. It also feels a bit rough. The transmission could be repaired, or it could just be replaced and the matter would be done. I suspect the dealer should have flushed the system years ago the first time the running low burnt the fluid, but they didn't, and said it wasn't necessary. Now due to early wear, there is correction needed to the transmission now.

While working on this, I would also replace the front cover seal, as it is showing the signs of slight seepage around this mileage. The front pads will also need to be done soon, but there's still some on there.

I really cannot think of any tiny other little thing to say about the car. There's probably more good than I am forgetting than bad.

We were going to keep this car however we have too many in the family. Upon correction of the transmission issue, we would trust this car to run for years more. She's seen great fuel mileage with this car. Cruises smooth, engine is strong, suspension is tight. Obviously no check engine lights. Great running car, silver on black, looks great, lots of equity. Clear title. There was the original loan on the car but it was paid off long ago. We have both keys and the original owners manual.
