Description

Up for auction is my 1965 Ford Mustang GT coupe. This is a factory GT car. The car had a single owner for 40 years before being purchased by my friend’s neighbor. where it sat in her garage for the past 4 years. It was there that I saw it. fell in love with it and made it my next project. Starting with the body and paint – the body was extremely straight to start and originally teal in color. There was no rust save for the corners of the front doors (which were professionally repaired). The body was then mostly disassembled (fenders. hood. doors. trunk and all trim and emblems removed) to properly prep for paint. After many rounds of blocking she was painted the factory Wimbledon White using DuPont base & clear. No expense was spared on the body and paint. The car was reassembled with all new chrome. emblems and trim. My only regret is not replacing the vent window frames and quarter window trim. but those are small things for the new owner to do at their leisure to completely finish the restoration. Moving on to the interior – this is an original front bench seat car. Only about 1200 out of 1M cars received this option. Many parts of the interior are reproductions. and were installed 10 years ago. With that said I consider the interior new as it was garaged and never driven that entire time. The engine is the original 289 A-code with a 4 barrel carb. It was removed and partially disassembled for the purpose of repainting and regasketing. With only 15K miles on the odometer. I didn’t see the need to do a full rebuild. I went through great lengths to try to restore the engine bay with the correct bolts. clamps and stickers. The engine mates to the stock dual exhaust that exits out of the rear valance. For the rest of the drivetrain. she has the original C4 automatic and 8” rear end with 3. 00 freeway friendly gears. Up front there’s the factory 4-piston disc brakes and power steering. I purchased this car with the intention of keeping her and making her my daily driver. To that note this is not a Concours car and is not priced accordingly. but it’s far nicer than most people’s definition of “daily driver” and the bulk of what you’ll see out there. She’s a total cream puff and I’ve managed to put 500 on miles on her since completion. I’m reluctant to sell her but I have my heart set on a new project and need to free up space in the garage. Fly in and drive home. I wouldn’t hesitate to take this car cross country. Nice enough to proudly take to car shows. tame enough to send your daughter to school in or your wife to work in. I reserve the right to end the auction early as it is list locally. I've placed a buy it now option on the auction. however the actual reserve is lower. Happy Bidding!
