Description

We are reluctantly selling our extremely clean, meticulously cared for VX for one reason and one reason only: we're pregnant and can't fit a car seat in the back. If not for our new family addition, we would keep this awesome vehicle forever. Avid car collectors, we knew exactly what we were looking for when we found this rare beauty in excellent used condition and have cherished it ever since. It was exactly one year ago when we drove cross-country in it, from Washington, D.C. to San Diego, to celebrate our 20th anniversary, (even braving 120-degree weather across Arizona with the AC blasting) and had absolutely no issues on that 2500-mile journey whatsoever. And we're still married to tell about it!!!
You will receive one of two reactions to this car: those who don't know what it is and ask you a ton of questions because they think it's amazing, or those who know exactly what it is and congratulate you for owning such a collectible and sought aftervehicle.
This particular VX is the Ironman Edition with two-tone red/black leather Ironman Triathlon RECARO seats and the Ironman insignia found on the hood, side body and rear gate. Only 602 of these were made from 1999-2001 and they are the most collectible of all VX's. It has the roof rack, chrome wheels, dark grey cladding surround, AC (ice cold), All-Wheel Drive Torque on Demand, power windows, power locks with original Isuzu key and remote key fob in excellent condition, power mirrors, cruise control, Winter/Power Transmission Modes, and more. The original sound system was terrible in my opinion, so we upgraded all speakers and deck to a new Alpine system including BlueTooth capabilities, hands-free Smart Phone integration, USB port, etc. We do have the original deck and will include it in the sale if the buyer wants it.
The only minor blemishes are so small they are hard to see in the photos, but let me point them out. There was a small tear in the back of the backseat, seen only from the cargo space, that has been repaired. It's about an inch long. See photo for more detail. There is also some very small cracking on the armrest about the size of a quarter. It can be covered if you just put some black leather dye shoe polish on it, but for the purposes of being upfront with potential buyers, I have left it as-is to see in the photo. There are a few places on the painted white of the hood where the clear coat is beginning to go, but can only be seen if you really look hard. I couldn't even get it to show up on the photos well. Paint on the rest of the vehicle is like new. When we purchased the car we did run a CarFAX report and found that it had a front end accident just after it was new. We were told that it was a minor accident and was fully repaired. The car has always had a clean title.
Recent and significant mechanical work has included a new engine installed at 118k miles, new front shocks, new window regulators, new AC blower motor, new muffler, new chrome lugnuts, new pinion seal installed and differential serviced at 184k, new drive belt tensioner at 188k, new battery in May. When we decided to sell the car, we took it in to our trusted mechanic for a complete inspection and to take care of what he thought was needed to sell it with confidence. All that was needed was a pressure hose for the power steering and an oil change (much different than the $18k needed by my newer Aston Martin we are also selling with only 41k miles on it!). These VXs are solid, dependable, and loved by those who have had the honor to own one. I'm including a few links you might be interested in:

We will also be including a used VX Transfer Case that we purchased as a "reserve part" because our transmission specialist told us that the most expensive problem one could potentially have with these vehicles is if you ever need a new transfer case. They cost over $2700 from the Isuzu parts dealer and are very difficult to find, so we had an opportunity to purchase a good used one for a decent price and did so. We've had no indication that this vehicle will need one anytime soon, but just in case, it is yours for the taking if you want it.
A few interesting points to share about this model, are that the backseats not only recline with a 50/50 split, but they also make into a flat double-sized "bed" in the back that is reasonably comfortable. The backseat is extremely spacious. Note that the photos taken for this ad show the backseat legroom with the front seats moved all the way back. It's truly made for some Ironmen to sit back there!!!
Valuing this particular car is almost impossible due to its rarity (1 of only 420 '99 Ironman's made). I could only find one other Ironman for sale earlier this summer at $13,500 but with lower miles (111k). So we've decided to advertise it nationally with no reserve and see what it will bring. Please note that we are listing it with numerous sites and reserve the right to end this auction early if it sells elsewhere before.
We truly hope it goes to a great owner who will enjoy and appreciate it the way we have.
Comes with clear California title and current registration.
