Description

This 1988 Jeep Comanche has been completely re-built and modified to the condition shown in thephotographs. It is the ultimate driver. Each time I stop for gas or park it anywhere I am swarmed by folks in the area. It is most unique and always draws attention by sight or sound.

The rebuild project was started, and almost completed, by a local gentleman and his son. I have seen some other things he had done, and he is truly a craftsman. He and his son bought this Jeep approximately twelve years ago and the two of them jointly worked on it as a father-son project over eight to nine years. Most of the work on the Jeep had been done when the son graduated and moved out of state. During the course of their work on the vehicle they did all of the metal work, which includes the best set of bumpers and fender flaring that I have ever seen on a Jeep of any description.

While the Jeep was disassembled all door jams, interior parts, hood, and all other parts that are typically only seen when things are open or disassembled were painted the color that is on the vehicle as it was finally painted about six months ago.

Before the paint was added to the exterior a newly rebuilt Chevrolet 350 engine and exhaust system were added using a conversion kit available for sale on the internet. The Chevrolet engine was mated to the original Jeep 5 speed transmission. A lift kit was installed by Rusty. 33 x 12.50 R15LT tires with brush aluminum wheels were added, and as are shown in the photos. The tires have less than 250 miles total. After the lift kit and the tires were added a fullalignmentwas done by a local tire-alignment shop.

There is no rust on the vehicle ever. As part of the re-paint we took the exterior body all the way to the metal, and there was no rust and no body filler on any part of the body. Some filler added where we welded in new metal to do away with a sunroof that was added at some point in the life of the Jeep.

With the addition of theChevroletV-8 engine the original hood configuration would not close, thus the original hood was modified with new metal to the shape seen in the photos. This metal was feathered in with body filler. The hood came out very well and certainly compliments the rest of the Jeep very well.

Along the way toward the rebuild a heated-cooled console was added, along with three newreceptaclesfor phone chargers, GPS, etc., tinted side and vent windows, and the rear window. We added a new windshield, a new radio, new carpet, new headliner, with sound deadening beneath the carpet and headliner, new headers and a tuned exhaust for the Chevy 350. The engine-header-exhaust setup makes for one the most beautiful deep rumble and pleasant sounds. The exhaust sound is not loud, but outside of the vehicle it sounds great. Quieter (but great) inside too.

The handle setup, as seen in the photos, on the right of the console was added to lock in or lock out the four wheel drive. The 1988 Jeep Comanche year model was designed for avacuum controlled lock in - lock out system that did not always work as designed. This handle modification allows for a very positive lock in - lock out operation.

This Jeep Comanche as offered could be used for heavy-duty off road operations because of the high grade rebuild and upgrades that went into it. Although the new owner cancertainlyelect to do what he/she wants with it once he/she owns it, I hope that if you are looking for a vehicle for that purpose that you will pass this one by. Too much thought, too much time, and money has been spent to get this Jeep in the condition that it is presently. All of the sweat equity in this vehicle has made it a vehicle to be appreciated as it is.

It was built as a driver. It was never intended to be a show vehicle. It has been detailed top and bottom and I have not driven this vehicle in the rain or when the roads/streets were wet.

You are welcome to view this vehicle by appointment. I am open to an inspection by a professional inspector if you like.

Thank you for looking. I wish you success with your bidding.

I will respond to inquiries as soon as possible.
