We all try to live in the past and when I was in high school my best friends dad built him a Maxi Taxi from the ground up. We loved that buggy and drove it everywhere. Now 40 years later I found one here in town and spent the winter restoring it. Unlike my buddies buggy (which he still owns) this one has opening doors. The car was always stored inside so the metalflake finish is in awesome shape. I started by high pressure cleaning everything on the car and followed that with paint and detail. I replaced the rear axles on the IRS suspension with heavy duty units and added chrome coil over shocks on the front. I pulled the type 3 motor and had it completely rebuilt and added an Engle 110 cam and a new E-GAS 38 carb. The motor is nicely detailed and runs great. All the chrome is in great shape and I had all the aluminum pieces polished. I then added a new Superior wood steering wheel and Empi shifter and detailed the interior which is in mint condition. We added new rear drums and a complete front ball joint disc brake kit which are both drilled for the chevy bolt pattern Salt Flat wheels and new tires. Everything is new or rebuilt and this was a factory built car. With the full length pan 4 adults can ride in comfort. It also includes all the curtains for foul weather.
